(gb) wrote: Admirable. It lost my attention at some points, but the gravitas of Eva Green is undeniable. She is a strong actress and the girls that surround her are good too, even if it drags and feels a bit weightless at some points.

(us) wrote: I don't understand the joke behind this film..maybe it's because the slow tempo of the subtile from the movie I watched..but yet again, the flow was terribly slow..needless to say, I didn't watch until the end since I felt bored in the middle ;p
(au) wrote: Pretty good. Not one I'd watch over and over again, but a decent Israeli film that takes a look into the world of Orthodox Judaism.
(gb) wrote: A very good throw back to "old school American horror" with the some good scares, a couple of laughs, plenty of gore, likable characters, and great kills.

(au) wrote: Not bad. Took a long time to get rolling. Doesn't live up to its cast, at all. And a thoroughly disappointing and unsatisfactory ending.
(ru) wrote: Beautiful film about a fractured mother-daughter relationship. In addition, the film explores the sometimes isolating nature of poverty (in this case a single expecting mother), as well as the invisibility and resulting loneliness. A young woman must overcome her isolation in order to achieve a new, deeper understanding of what it means to love and be loved.

(ca) wrote: One or two entertaining moments to be found in this straight to video sequel. One thing that disturbed me was Jafar's death! Listening to him scream while showing his skeleton, the animators might as well have added a caption in this scene saying, "The Return of Jafar: A FAMILY PICTURE!" That was a moment where Disney went a little too far, and it makes this feature less memorable than what it already is.

(br) wrote: HUMANOIDS FROM THE DEEP directed by Barbara Peeters was a pretty fun monster movie. A cannery trying to move in on a tiny piece of Pacific Coast has been experimenting on the fish. Suddenly, the species becomes intelligent and realizes that man is its enemy and woman its evolutionary leap forward. There's a nice back story of thugs working for the cannery and a salmon festival (grand finale naturally). There's even a Native American character who ends up being a hero, and that was great to watch. This is a solid monster picture with an awesome showdown at the salmon festival and several explosions. The way the humans vanquish the humanoids makes no sense whatsoever, but the very final scene is deliciously wrong (Corman's or Peeters' - I don't know).Peeters ignored Corman's directive for nudity (only female of course) and turned in a final picture about raping women and killing men that only featured the second part. Peeters refused to add the nudity, so Corman sent a second unit out to cover all the missing rape scenes. It's hard to tell what the movie would look like without those because there are a lot of them. The run time is only 80 minutes. After HUMANOIDS, Peeters was sent to tv purgatory, which wasn't nearly as well-respected as it is these days, and gave up film altogether before the end of the decade.
