Jack G (ca) wrote: the movie didn't quite live up to the awesomeness of the title, but.. it has a weird, perverse fascination about it. While I would've loved Klaus Kinski in the lead that Lou Castel plays, we can't always get what we want. PS: Is it just me, or does Fassbinder look like he's in his 40s here and not, y'know, *26*!?

Tim S (es) wrote: Kiss Me Deadly was based on the novel by Mickey Spillane and directed by Robert Aldrich. Although the script for the film deviates from the novel significantly in a few areas, the tone of the novel seems to have carried over. The first half of the film is actually the weakest part, and I was questioning why the film seemed to have gained a cult status at that point, but then came the second half which was fantastic. The first half feels directionless and very standard noir-ish without much of a story to it, so I was glad when it finally got one going in the second half. Ralph Meeker is great in his role, of course. He reminds me quite a bit of Timothy Olyphant, which is strange because they have very dissimilar body types. It's definitely a classic film that all film fans must see, but just hold out for the second half. Trust me, it's definitely worth it.
