It's only afterwards that it becomes anything like a story at all, when you're telling it to yourself or someone else."

Cast is alright, his best friend was hilarious. It does seem like the type of comedy Judd Apatow would make, except surprisingly tame given the raunchy subject matter. A LOT OF MONTAGES (is that the Quebecois style?) and a little too long, but overall, great comedy and really puts a smile on your face.

(ru) wrote: it's sort of cool what they did with the birds but it wasn't enough to make it a really good horror flick. The love subplot was pretty boring and there wasn't a very clear antagonist. The end was a little less complete than i would have preferred (hanging endings are allowed to explain a bit more). Honestly this was 2 hours of film just to see 5-10 minutes of interesting stuff. The actors didn't get much chance to showcase their fear. They were too busy covering their faces. So different from Ripley in the Alien series where it's a perfect mixture of fear and rage.Possibly worth watching if you are a film history geek or if people you know constantly reference it but to a general audience i would say to pass this film.
(ru) wrote: I somehow don't think this went very well in Hollywood...Politics and religion are no interests of mine, and that aside, the movie in itself is not really that great, but far better than a lot of other crappy stuff out there. If "Yankee go home" is one of your favorite sayings, then you'll probably love this. Do keep in mind just as they tend to stereotype the "terrorists" in american movies, so does this movie stereotype the americans. All in all, definitely worth a watch, if nothing else for the change of perspective.

(nl) wrote: This film had great potential because of the generation gap exploration which always makes for a good story...The problem here is that there simply wasn't enough depth in the reality of the conflicts...The only story amongst the four sub-plots which was affective was that of Kirk Douglas's dealing with the loss of his wife...
(us) wrote: The amount of insanity displayed in this movie makes my brain hurt. There's an escaped snake infected with rat cancer, an evil British dude named Mr. Chang, missing diamonds, transvestites, deadly skateboarders, rocket launchers, killer Frisbees and more. If you want a movie that is so mind boggingly bad that it is hilarious than seek this one out.

Although it is low budget and the acting is horrible, it was not that bad....It was shocking, depressing and disgusting...I found the mutated baby to be the most horrifying thing about this film but it is definetly not a movie for everybody...

(kr) wrote: A pleasant surprise!I thought the movie was entertaining from start to finish, I mean come one, who doesn't like fighting robots? But this film was special, it wasn't just a robot boxing movie, it was an under-dog story which was well-made and the casting for Hugh Jackman as the lead character was great and he himself praised the movie. Also the boxing scenes were very very well-done and were thrilling especially in the final act of the movie. So in short, if you like boxing movies but want to see a unique one then would recommend it for you. But if you don't like robots then at least try this out and see what you think about it.Overall score: 8/10 (Great).
