(jp) wrote: Why do they keep making these movies? They're all completely identical. Giant CGI snake eats everyone. Big whoop. If you've seen any of the other movies, do yourself a favor and skip this one.

(br) wrote: Edward Furlong is back! In what seemed like it was going to be a low budget version of the start of 28 Days Later, Warriors of Terra actually turns into a film that takes a lot of "faith" as the story becomes somewhat ridiculous. The film has some creepy moments but fails to become extremely scary. There is some decent gore as is expected of a low budget horror movie but the nudity levels are clearly lacking considering all the hormone crazed teens/early twenties involved in the film. Not a great film by any standards with some terrible acting, a terrible script and a completely unbelievable monster BUT the sets and FX do tend to be above par and make up for many of the shortcomings. Worth checking out if you find it really really... really cheap.

(br) wrote: I didn't appreciate Caddyshack the first time I watched it. This time I did. I think the film is amusing because it's ironic. The country club setting and wealthy characters create a classy, refined visual, but the story is driven by a dirty and juvenile energy. The caddies and the lead actors demonstrate with their own silliness how silly the elites' pretentious lifestyles are. The plot is almost non-existent and the three comedic leads barely interact with each other throughout the entire film, but the film is still undeniably entertaining somehow. Bill Murray's sequences are inane and hilarious, Chevy Chase is subtly clever and smooth and Rodney Dangerfield is obnoxious and obscene. These three mainly separate acts combine to create a something powerful, both comically and thematically. They all in their own way are a rejection of wealth and aristocracy, which makes it all the more interesting that they triumph over wealth at the end and the golf course, a breeding ground for the wealthy and entitled, is blown up.
(ag) wrote: Mike Nichols dives into the sexually dysfunctional world of men post-World War II and Vietnam very frankly capturing their ever present inability to see the opposite sex as anything but receptacles. Jack Nicholson and Art Garfunkel star alongside Candice Bergen and show stealer Ann Margret in what is also the first film in the history of cinema to ever feature a condom on screen. Banned in a few territories when it was released (mainly for its explicit dialogue), the only shocking aspect that remains from the experience is the fact that the curdled, cruel masculinity seen here is not only limited to these generations. Let's hope time can help shape manhood a little better. Possibly one of Nichols' most underrated films, this is filled with long, intimate and complex shots that aren't easy to forget and really do deserve to be seen.

(it) wrote: A decent story. Starts off good, but then goes south. Great cast, great story, but needs a real director. Charles Bronson use to wrap a story like this in 30 mins.
