(nl) wrote: I wanted to like this movie but... Well, it sucks: the acting sucks, the story sucks, pretty much everything but CGI sucks.
(br) wrote: This is for sure a good find. I must admit it slows down during the first part. Nonetheless, it picks up and wraps up surprisingly well. I loved the cast, the music, the photography (oh my God, breathtaking) and wonderful images. The themes were also enjoyable; I love the religious themes, the magnificent Mosques, the bright Lord Krisha, the interesting characters...However I felt it had some lose ends, some unrelated stories that had nothing to do. We could have done without the valentine's day, the bush' call, the worried cop... and focused more on the love story, the social and political implications of inter-religious love... that would have good enough for a great movie. Anyway, it was an enjoyable pick, I love the realistic characters, no perfect looking, constantly teary, techno dancing masala; this is all good cinema.

(ru) wrote: Maybe the most zealous, and unintentionally funny, foley work ever.
(ca) wrote: Just awful. Pointless sequel has none of the charm of "Get Shorty." Only James Woods is worth watching in this, and he's dead after the first five minutes.
(it) wrote: Terrible movie. The jokes are terrible, and Will Ferrell is the very picture of mediocrity in comedy.
(jp) wrote: Watched it in my class. Very good movie indeed. Acting was a bit rough but other than that this was a good movie.
(br) wrote: One of the iconic films or should I say roles for Dustin Hoffman, Tootsie is an interesting look at the gender politics as well as the arduous task of the audition process for an generic actor is a sea of thousands the lengths he would go to in order to stand out in a crowd and land the role to get some cash. Little does he know when he shows up in drag and sells Dorothy to the soaps and lands the role of a lifetime out of it and has to continue to sell his lies. There are some great laughs and solid acting, helped out by a great supporting cast including Teri Garr, Sydney Pollack and Geena Davis. Suffers slightly from being slightly dated in its perception of gender politics and being a common trope of putting a funny man in drag (Mrs Doudtfire hit some similar ideas) but otherwise good for what it is.
(jp) wrote: I've developed a morbid fascination with Joan Crawford. I really don't think she's that good of an actress, but her performances are always bizarrely compelling and this film is no different. Joan is the older half of a May-September romance with a younger war veteran, Cliff Robertson. Things get complicated when Joan finds out he's already married and that he's also a bit disturbed (looking for a mommy figure). The film is certainly not as classy a soaper as "All That Heaven Allows" when the younger Rock Hudson begins seeing the older Jane Wyman, but this film does have a campiness to it, mostly thanks to Joan's over dramatic performance (though Cliff isn't far behind), that made it compelling and so that I couldn't take my eyes off it. Joan is just one weird cat! Vera Miles and Lorne Greene also appear in the film and the great Robert Aldrich directed.

(ru) wrote: You get to hear Jesse say his classic "B****!" line. Mostly very serious tone and look at alcoholism. Glad to see Mary not in a horror flick and she has some serious acting chops. True Talent.

(fr) wrote: This is an odd sort of masterpiece. It manages to offend every sensibility I've ever managed, every sensibility of every viewer, and it just sucks. I know that everyone was saying that it's terrible. I know everyone said it was atrocious, but that just peaks my interest. The jokes fall flat, the music resembles that of crackling ass, the talent is wasted, the animation is fucking awful, and my brain cells are fried. I'm somewhat ashamed to say I occasionally smirked. To all of those who warned me, I'm truly sorry. Oh and I may lose any fan base I contracted, but strawberry is the worst flavor.
