Darcey Louise P (nl) wrote: This was a bit depressing, Anna Sophia Robb was perfect for the role of Tara. Poor James, the ending makes me wonder if he was going to ever see Joleen & Tara again. I felt like smacking Dennis Hopper over the head myself with all the nasty, unprovoked things he was saying.Great cast !!

Tom M (us) wrote: It's all about the transition from youth to adulthood in this cavalry flick, yet another excellent Ford-Wayne collaboration. Wayne is wonderful as always, this time as a cavalry captain on the eve of retirement, and Victor McLaglen as his sergeant nearly steals the movie, as always. But the focus is as much on Agar, Johnson, and Carey, representing the next generation. By movie's end, we see that they are ready to supplant Wayne and Natwick as exemplars of duty, honor, and responsible adulthood.
