Paul K (de) wrote: We enjoyed this, despite my poor attempt at syncing the English subtitles, which added a whole other dimension! It's a German feelgood movie - similar to any number of British homegrown Fully Monty style epics. Very nicely produced, and addresses the issues of the returning German prisoners of 1954 who had spent years in Soviet labour camps. Lots of human relationships, nicely interwoven narratives, and - of course - football. Not usually my favourite subject, but I can make exceptions. A good film.

Jake C (mx) wrote: Stunning animation, a complex story and fascinating characters brimming in a world dominated by technology. The science-fiction masterpiece joins the ranks of other classics by Mamoru Oshii

Robert M (ag) wrote: A fun and childhood classic. As I age more and watch these older movies, I do tend to notice some of the "lacks" from these older special effects. Throughout the film though, I was well impressed with them for it's time. The sets were really well done, there were enough moments where it was just hard to tell how they did it effect-wise, and some of the stop-motion effects were pretty decent as well. A few small kids (literally) on one big journey from being swept up from a broom to riding on insects all over. This is clever and well-done entertainment that to me should remain one of the best and most interesting ideas when it comes to non-animated Disney studio films. I am also taking some credit from the fact that there is a movie set play area and a 3D indoor theater show with it's theme at Disney's Hollywood Studios park. The overall film is well-engaging and quite suspenseful.

Ken R (ru) wrote: Just a brutal, brutal movie! This thing is amazing. Definitely have some friends over to watch. It's got Christopher Plummer and David Hasslehoff in one of the worst space operas ever to play out. You will need others around to help you mock this poorly executed, ridiculous movie. Some of my favourite moments of shame: 1. When their ship is being attacked. The crew flees out the window ... in space! 2. The "Green Ray"

Ray S (fr) wrote: Slow-moving but not uninteresting. Not simple-minded. Super performances. Also refreshing is how some of the characters are gay yet the situations they deal with aren't related to their sexual orientation.

Kevin C (ag) wrote: Top cast, superb director and 5 star reviews abounded in 2012. But personally i felt a little disappointed. It tries to adopt a similar approach and tone, but this is no Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. The 2008 election backdrop seems to indicate the bankers have f**ked it all up, and we've all got to fight for ourselves. This is an insight into sleazy men, the boredom; their vices and typically their incompetence. This isn't the mindset of psychopaths, more a dread of the pack turning. It's well-acted, but neither epic or indie. Just a bit MEH.

Charles G (ru) wrote: Big fan of Segel and love Blunt, but this film is a disappointment. No real or lasting humour, which isn't Blunt's niche. The film fails to maximise Segel's ability to deliver a line dead pan with oodles of sarcasm and the supporting cast, with some good names amongst them, add nothing of note.
