The Unknown Soldier

The Unknown Soldier

It is the summer of 1941. An eastern-Finnish machine gun company receives an order to turn in their surplus equipment. The company is transferred to the front lines. The next morning the soldiers wake to the sound of guns - the war has begun. The Finnish troops attack and quickly move across the border. The young, nervous rookies of the company get their baptism of fire, and the men become familiar with death and the hardships of war. Under strength and badly equipped they fight a superior enemy. The lists of heroes and of the dead seem endless. Edvin Laine's epic interpretation of Väinö Linna's war novel "Tuntematon Sotilas" is an entire chapter in the book of Finnish movie history.

The Unknown Soldier torrent reviews

Wolf M (gb) wrote: This is the one that got away from Horror fans. Horror fans expected a scary, bloody and gory movie. Instead they got drama and a deep movie with more layers than an onion. In my eyes, this movie is about a woman dealing with death and depression. The way this is portrayed in the movie has been masterfully directed and incredibly acted. The movie sets the bar for psychological dramas with a horror twist. The way the illness taking over the mother was very creative however, a lot of horror/gore fans did not understand the underlying message. No good for horror fans. Incredible for everyone else. An almost perfect movie.

Jim T (br) wrote: To me, this film made Captain America look like a legend because he survived an experiment, not for anything he actually did. It took long to get going

David A (it) wrote: (from The Watermark 09/14/95) Dr. Jekyll and Ms. Hyde (Sean Young, Tim Daly, Harvey Fierstein): Gender issues fall to the wayside in this muddy modernization of the Robert Lewis Stevenson classic. However - the score is fantastic, Young is pretty good, and Fierstein is fab in his confused gay supporting role. But most importantly, Daly appears in various stages of undress. What I?d call an absolute ?must-rent.?

Paul J (it) wrote: Growing up, I was a big fan of the Lone Wolf and Cub comic books. I've always wanted to check out the full six-part non-dubbed mini-series. That said, I was also curious to see what all the fuss was about regarding this truncated US cut that got banned and labeled a"video nasty." (It is primarily part two from the original series with about ten minutes from part one). As campy as it is, it's remarkably entertaining, with buckets of blood, striking choreography and interesting camera and sound choices. The characters are memorable and the 80 minutes whiz by. I suppose the censors were uncomfortable with the little "cub" being such a large part of the violence throughout. Personally, I found it a wacky blast and as a child I would have loved it.

Zack B (ru) wrote: The only reason I want to see this is because it inspired Metallica to make "One".

Matthew S (br) wrote: Thanks to some highly realistic performances from not only Ralph Fiennes and John Turturro, but the brilliant work of all actors involved help pull Redford's out of a rather mediocre "by-the-numbers" conventional movie to something with far greater weight. Mira Sorvino gives a particularly strong standout performance.
