Shane J (ag) wrote: warlock ramped up with more blod and gore. the effects are better than the 1st in ways but havn't aged at all well. this just seemed like one of those forgetable 90's horror films that came out at the time, where you thought they were good until you rewatch them. I think this is the only other film that ive seen the captain in lethal weapon in? and whats really going on with pretty much making the good guys jedi's??

Clare N (ru) wrote: Whereas Hubert Selbert Jnr.'s novel is bleak and its characters depraved, Uli Edel's film adaptation is imbued with humanity and pathos. Characters in the novel who lacked any empathy or compassion are given redemptive qualities and several side plots have been added to the screenplay in order to soften some of the book's more unnerving scenes. Make no mistake, this film is not easy viewing in its uncompromising depiction of working class Brooklyn circa 1952, but the journey is worth it if just for Jennifer Jason Leigh's brilliant performance alone.

Julie A (it) wrote: Here is the film (and the man) which was the inspiration for my favorite Looney Tunes character - Pepe Le Pew; this film starring Charles Boyer, Sigrid Gurie, and Hedy Lamarr. The Walter Wanger production was a remake of the successful 1937 French film P?p? le Moko, which derived its plot from the Henri La Barthe novel of the same name. John Howard Lawson wrote the screenplay. The movie was a sensation because it was the first Hollywood film starring Hedy Lamarr whose stunning beauty became the main feature for moviegoers. The film is notable as one of the sources of inspiration to the screenwriters of the 1942 Warner Brothers film Casablanca who wrote it with Hedy Lamarr in mind as the original female lead. The story is like in the original French film (and novel), about a beautiful rich girl Gabrielle (Gaby) ,who is on holiday in Algiers with her fiance, and meets and falls in love with the notorious jewel thief Pepe le Moko, has for two years lived in, and virtually ruled, the mazelike, impenetrable Casbah, the "native quarter" of Algiers. I had heard of the film, and I just had see this film; so I had taped on TCM and I watched it and I love it; and you know that song that was played (and sung) in the film "C'est la vie" it's kind of catchy.

Zachary M (es) wrote: God I wish something like this would have a 'cinematic universe' like the Marvel films. Because that's what it essentially is. It's a prequel to Silence of the Lambs, with many of the same charters, but with a different killer. I would love to see more movies like this in the same universe. Great acting, a terrifying and sympathetic villain, and great visuals. Please more of this.
