Jamie S (fr) wrote: Glen Hansard has always been a fascinating man to me. He gives 110% in every performance, sings about heartbreak and loss, and yet seems to have a hopeful disposition about his life. This film touches on both Glen and Marketa's families and how their Oscar win in 2007 catapulted them into stardom, at times with side effects, and how their own romantic relationship began and eventually ended. Well worth the watch.

It was cool to see him go all aggro on it in the end with a machine guy. Super tense! Added bonus: there was a pre-Glee Cory Monteith in this movie.

I did enjoy how they vandalised rich people's properties. The film gets a lot more interesting when one of their break-ins goes wrong and they end up taking a "fat-cat" hostage. It turns out that the Fat-cat is just as trapped within the system as they are (possibly moreso) and there is an interesting parallel that makes you wonder if the youngsters are seeing their future selves. A pretty effective "rom-com" with revolutionary politics. An excellent soundtrack too

Quinto W (es) wrote: Hilarious movie. Every cast member is in top shape and bring a sense to reality to their characters, all of which are incredibly rounded and well-written. Even when you know how the movie is going to end, it is a romantic comedy after all, there's something about the way movies were made back then, there was actual care when making them, that none of it ever feels like a cliche.
