The Village Teacher

A life-long story of a romantic school teacher who left imperial St. Petersburg for teaching country children. Jana A (mx) wrote: My favourite Marvel film!

Luciano G (nl) wrote: Enjoyable, a bit to long stretched movie that puts your brain in relaxation mode...contains stupidity, but is okay as a family movie or comedy...

Ellie M (us) wrote: I believe the cast for this film made something incredibly special - as an avid fan of the original book series, I think that, while certain aspects had been adapted for some 'movie magic,' so much of the series shows through. Exceptional description of an astounding world.

Karl H (ag) wrote: Honestly this movie was complete shit. On my birthday I had some friends over. I very much did not want to watch this movie as the trailer looked shit and the reviews spoke for themselves. I watched it and honestly, now I hate my friends. This movie was so utterly shit and unfunny that I would rather watch, well to be honest, anything, utterly anything else. Do not waste your life watching this movie.

Jiri B (fr) wrote: An entertaining followup, creepy atmospheric film.

Audric B (br) wrote: After watching this for the second time ( Darn Insomnia ) This is one of those movies that you get at 1:30am and you need more alcohol. Van Damme is typical at best but I am surprised to Ms.Fox in this type of film.

Sean L (nl) wrote: Entry-level suspense/action that's careful to paint exclusively by the numbers. Which is to say it's thoroughly safe and predictable from the very beginning, fair play for a Disney-branded family flick. It does let itself get washed away in a late flood of post-9/11 patriotism, but the constant flag-waving and revolution-era set pieces - absurd though they may be - at least give the picture something of a unique identity. It's not the next Tomb Raider though, try as it might, and the actual riddle-cracking/crypt plundering often comes so easily that it all feels redundant and boring. Nic Cage's lead performance varies from intensely awkward to, actually, pretty cool, but he can't completely fight away the urge to overact his heart out in a few late scenes. A strange hybrid of genres and essences, with an even stranger knack for casting decisions, I found it light entertainment at best.

David K (fr) wrote: The animation seems dated by now, but that really doesn't matter when both the characters and and the story lack heart and depth.

Allan C (ca) wrote: Montgomery Clift plays a newspaper lonelyhearts advice columnist who gets a bit too caught up in his readers problems in this somewhat corny drama. However, despise it's dated aspects, there is a good cast t who give strong performance, including Robert Ryan as Clift's bully of an editor and Myrna Loy as Ryan's beleaguered wife. John Alton provides some fine photography and Conrad Salinger (who I'd never heard of before) provides a good score.

Dax S (ca) wrote: One of my childhood movies.

Johny M (mx) wrote: The idea was good, but the result wasn't so good. There's only two things that I enjoyed in this movie: the lightening in some shots and Neil Patrick Harris' acting.

Ben E (br) wrote: Surprisingly well made and fun. Not a great film by all means but one that I could imagine myself watching a few more times over the next few years.
