George P (br) wrote: This was one of the early sound films. "Marius" us the 1st of the trilogy. I have seen the later English language version, which was in color and combined all into one fim- it's titled just "Fanny", stars Leslie Caron, Maurice Chevalier and Charles Boyer. It is entertaining but "Hollywood-ized", less realistic and lighter in tone and I think lacks the poignance and charm of this earlier version, which is seriously dramatic at times and more lighthearted at other times.

Walter M (it) wrote: "Hearts and Minds" is a documentary about the Vietnam war, made slightly after the United States removed its forces from the country and a year before the fall of Saigon. It is an effectively searing attack on the war starting with the fallacies of rabid anti-communism which was a disguise for imperalistic hubris in aiding the French, thus missing the opportunity to aid Ho Chi Minh after World War II when it had the chance. After that, it was a downhill ride to the racism of the combat troops towards the Vietnamese people. "Hearts and Minds" is a very informative documentary, even though I was very familiar with most of the talking heads.(For example, I was familiar with what Clark Clifford, Daniel Ellsberg and William Westmoreland had to say but had not seen footage of the great senator, J. William Fulbright before.) Where this documentary separates itself from others is the unforgettable imagery of the ground-level view of the war. The movie talks to Vietnamese civilians who are not often heard from.(And compare their views to those of the American bomber pilots...) One last thought: compare "Communism" and "Vietnam" to "Terrorism" and "Iraq."

Ray Walston's character is hilarious (especially the first 45 minutes) as he suspects his wife is having hanky panky with EVERYONE ... a few cute songs tossed in for good measure ... I wonder why this one was not in color ... hmmmm ....
Leilani M (kr) wrote: Christianity is so offensive because it directly confronts the sin that dominates so much of this world. When we turn to our own way, we are turning from Our Creators way. This world is in terrible danger. Atomic bombs, guns, drugs are not as dangerous as the human heart behind them. We receive our freedom purchased by Jesus' blood at The Cross. God loves you so much, with an everlasting love and He can forgive all of your sins. Sin kills the human heart. Sin in the human heart damages the mind, will and emotion (the soul). God helps us break the chains of sin. If any man be in Christ he is a new creature, old things pass away everything is new. God can make you totally new. Persecuted is a great movie that relates to our current condition.
