Chris J (au) wrote: A convincing illustration of the way stupid ideas can get traction if discussed at the right moment by people inclined to agree with one another, "The Freebie" takes a sweet if thrill-free marriage and threatens to throw it under a truck for the sake of contemporary sexual ideals. Writer-director-star Katie Aselton and Dax Shepherd are brilliant from the likeable, funny scenes to the awkward silences and bitterness that follow. But throughout, the believable naturalism of improvised dialogue and the intimacy of the movie's unassuming but skillful style makes the misguided protagonists easy to root for.

Mike R (ca) wrote: This is one of those fun, enjoyable films that aren't too challenging, have a cadre of actors that do a good job and has an interesting plot. I thought Peter O'Toole is touching and does a wonderful job in the film. This is one of the few films I see Vincent Spano in, but he does a great job as well. Well worth a bowl of popcorn, a blanket and cuddling with someone to watch for the evening.

Kevin R (mx) wrote: Let me show you how much I love my mother.A serial killer is on the loose in New York City and a new media company wants to be the first to know everything about the case. They bring a retired writer out of retirement to help them in their efforts. The writer is reluctant to help because he wants to settle down with his new love, but he does take the case. As one would expect, the killer targets the author's lover as his next victim. Will the killer catch the lover by surprise or will the writer help bring the killer down in time?"That's the type of guy you're going to marry.""I like the kind of guy I'm going to marry."Fritz Lang, director of M, Metropolis, Fury, The Testament of Dr. Mabuse, Man Hunt, Scarlett Street, Harakiri, Destiny, and The Woman in the Window, delivers While the City Sleeps. The storyline for this picture was just okay. You sometimes forget this is a serial killer movie due to the focus of the love story subplot. The acting is pretty good as the cast includes Vincent Price, Dana Andrews, Rhonda Fleming, George Sandres, John Drew Barrymore, and Howard Duff."I'm engaged.""What do I care you're engaged?"I DVR'd this off Turner Classic Movies (TCM) last Halloween season during a Vincent Price marathon. I have watched a ton of his movies and generally find his characters fascinating. He played the role of the boss in this movie perfectly, but the overall execution of this film was just okay. I do recommend watching this once, as the story unfolds well, but this definitely could have been better."Shut your obscene mouth."Grade: B-

Philip N (es) wrote: It's a strange one rebooting something that's still warm. I think the best thing to do would've been just a recast and continue with the toby mcguire story. Dr Connors isn't really a villain he is more of an obstacle and proves his human side by end of film, which makes the film pointless. Anyhu the movie aims high but delivers very low. I don't know if it is the cast or just the story. If its someone's first film then they did well.
Philip J (it) wrote: Fine, underrated thriller with strong performances from its three leads. Vanessa Hudgens, in particular, surprised me with her taut performance as a young teenage runaway who may be the only key to linking a string of murders to a serial rapist.
Jim B (ag) wrote: Great cast with good acting, but this movie was painfully boring. Give me "An American Werewolf in London" any day.
