The Wedding Director

Franco Elica is a film director casting a remake of a pious melodrama in Rome. He's melancholy, heading south for a break. On a beach, he meets a man who films weddings and is roped into helping film the wedding of the daughter of a severe and imperious prince. The wedding is one of convenience - the prince needs money, the groom is a mama's boy. Elica is attracted to the bride, Boda, and tries to convince her not to marry. No matter how outrageous his behavior, the prince keeps Elica on as the wedding director. As the wedding approaches, what's real blurs with Elica's imagination. Is he mad?

Armando B (us) wrote: This is by far the worst movie I have ever seen, the only thing that terrifies me about this movie is how crappy the story line is and how historically incorrect everything was. It's not scary at all ,bad acting by all characters it was just full of crap. So for this being bad as we speak, and please begging to stop making horror movies if they know how to do them, I give "A Haunting In Salem"an F.

I particularly liked Jeffrey Dean Morgan & Chloe Grace Moretz here, though not too fussed with Sam Worthington and had to use subtitles to understand what he was saying at times. What's with him and his dreadful accents? I think the ending poses more questions than it answers for me and the whole closing felt quite rushed with little depth, i was shocked at how simple solving the case was. Overall this is quite good if you catch it on TV or pick it up at Blockbuster on a dark lonely rainy day but the plot lets it down.

Timothy S (ru) wrote: It was 1989 when Lloyd Dobler, John Cusack's iconic character from "Say Anything", predicted that kickboxing would be the sport of the future. He missed the mark a bit, but kickboxing movies did take over the world a few years later and "Night of the Warrior" is little more than one forgettable film in a hundred.Everything about this, from the redundant title to this oft-told story, is typical for the era and the genre. The strange thing is that very little of this has anything to do with showcasing the martial arts. The entire film is about Anthony Geary, in a ridiculous performance, coming up with ways to get Lorenzo Lamas into one more big payday fight. Considering how poorly executed the fight scenes are (only outdone by the horrible dancing in Lamas' club) that it's probably for the better. You begin to wonder if Paula Abdul had something to do with this.Lamas himself is an average B-movie star at best, not much charisma and clearly deficient in fighting skills but he keeps getting work thanks to his name recognition and clever editing. The writer made photography his character's "one true passion" in a moronic attempt to give him depth, and some elements of the film are strangely arty (like the weird dancing in the nightclub where no one gets naked). It's all an attempt to make "Night of the Warrior" feel like a legitimate action movie but in reality it's just yet another unbearable B-movie with lackluster action, a story that's not worth following and a monotone star.

Andrew I (es) wrote: Three hours that really dragged by, briefly interrupted by some very decent swordfights and jousting. Under closer scrutiny, the later bigger battle scenes look a lot like handbags at 10 paces, with extras just waving swords about. Herbert Lom plays an amusing pantomime baddy, something like a cross between Captain Hook and Mustapha Leak. The real villain of the piece though, is the languid direction and editing which kill El Cid long before the arrows do. If it had about 40mins removed, it could be so much better. The audio mixing on the version I had wasn't brilliant either - most of the time you could hardly hear the dialogue, then the trumpets and timpani would deafen you a minute later which was very annoying. For such a renowned epic, I thought it was only so so.
