Definitely a different take on World War II through the lives of the men living one of the most dangerous and worrisome job roles a man could undertake during the war. A totally different route has been carved in the large intersection of war films out there. 10/10

Voight's Joe Buck "cowboy" is dripping with insecure machismo, but he finds his stride and pathos with Hoffman's disintegrating Ratso. Both are stuck in the other "American Dream" of New York City promises, and end up being archetypes of America's disenchantment with itself, at the cost of not doing anything about it.

Not a bad film at all, but tries to get you to empathize with Baldwin's character despite the fact the guy is a wackjob sociopath who has no conscience. It fails miserably and his demise is SOOOO satisfying!
