Larry S (br) wrote: This is way underrated. Skip the 'story' is stupid...and specific actors....and just enjoy the humor between weaver and Allen. That is what makes this moire work.

Jonathan G (es) wrote: If it weren't for director, Michel Gondry's interwoven, often honest and/or funny, behind-the-scenes moments this would be a lot less entertaining and a lot more of just a rap concert movie. It's Dave Chappelle movie, but he isn't much of the star. Rating: 6 / 10

Ceph J (it) wrote: "With a friend like Harry" who needs enemies? Actually, sociopath Harry is the most interesting character in this movie and he just might provide the energy to get Michel (played passively by Laurent Lucas) out of his doldrums. But, what drives seems he wants to be Michel who he thinks is the greatest writer. I didn't find his writings that good (more suited to teenage experiment) so Harry must be cuckoo. Similar to "Strangers On A Train" and "Buck and Chuck" this is a French melodrama with homoerotic subtext. Sergi Lopez is perfect as Harry and each time I watch this actor, I'm impressed with the way he delves into his roles. Mathilde Seigner is also very good as the wife. However the two other main actors, Lucas and Sophie Guillerman don't bring anything to their roles, they're enigmatic characters played by dull actors. The climax is not strong enough payoff as it makes Harry seem stupid and his motivation juvenile. However, it does have the irony of why Michel is a man revived and why he's discovered the inclination of his writing skills.

Grant S (mx) wrote: Had potential but it is apparent from early on that it won't realise it. Concept was interesting, but from the beginning the movie drifts and is quite dull. Ultimately seems contrived.Decent cast do their best, but are humstrung by the dull plot and listless direction.

Dan G (gb) wrote: This movie is just barely entertaining enough so that I don't feel the 78 minutes I spent watching it were a complete and utter waste that I will regret when I'm on my death bed. For the most part this is a by the numbers, seen one seen them all low budget 80's zombie movie. The acting is terrible, the video quality poor, the dialogue seems poorly dubbed and the low budget shows all the more for some scenes where there should have bene gore (speaking part character deaths) where we instead just get a cut-away and some screaming. WHile on the whole the movie is disappointing, it does have a few standout charming things going for it. The squad of people protesting the government's killing of zombies is great and seems all the more relevant today. Pointing out the other specific places where this movie shows some unique charm would be spoiling things so I guess I'll leave it out. Watch this if you're in the mood for a zombie flick with some black humor, just don't expect to be wowed by it. Know, however, that it does have it's moments. But they are fleeting.

Matt M (mx) wrote: Set in Macedonia, a boy constantly bullied in school and in his own home dreams of leaving fatherland. The film's intensity gets lost in an unstoppable wave of improbability and drab fake realism. It also drags and feels soulless.

Timothy M (ag) wrote: I think you'll be hard-pressed to find a sequel that documents the making of the original. It's corny, but it's fun. And it's worth a look.

Christopher B (kr) wrote: Always a pleasure to watch Walter Brennan.
