The police, the mayor, a news anchor and her cameraman, several WTO delegates, a pregnant woman caught in the middle of it all and of course the assorted protestors. An excellent ensemble cast represent all these characters and I love movies with multiple storylines that all converge. This wasn't perfect by any means but I definitely got wrapped up in the fictionalized account presented here of the 1999 protest riots at the World Trade Organization conference. My eyes were actually (sympathy) stinging from all the tear gas used as we see thousands of activists descend on Seattle Washington and witness the chaos that ensues over the next few days. Brutal. Huge cast but I would have to say Woody Harrelson & Charlize Theron's story stood out the most. I also really enjoyed Michelle Rodriguez & Martin Henderson as the activists. On a personal note this was very relatable as I was in Vancouver for the Stanley Cup riots. 9/30/14

(jp) wrote: What's so great about this film is that it manages to make us root for the little guy even though we know from the start what a monumentally bad idea that is for everyone involved. Ed Wood is a cheerful and genuinely friendly guy who doesn't let his own incompetence slow him down. Making us like him is easy. Making us side with him (especially when we can see how damaging it will be for all those around him) is a lot more tricky. The film also manages to recreate a lot of nostalgia for the era through use of black and white and other period stylings. Even knowing what a disaster his life will be you still feel inspired by his creativity and passion. You feel like, as a good and sincere person, he deserves success. The fact that he is entirely unworthy of it from an artistic perspective is the contradiction that the film embraces, and in so doing makes you really think about how easily we accept a hero's viewpoint as long as he's charming.

(nl) wrote: About the 3rd Infantry Division soldier Audie Murphy's military career. Played by the soldier himself! Murphy had such a baby face that he looked barely old enough even 10 years after the war. Anyhow - the movie did a fantastic job focusing on the key events in Murphy's career, and even though the action was not that explosive by today's standard, it was done with top skills over 50 years ago. Murphy is not that great of an actor, but to see him living through those events again made this movie a genre of its own.
(ca) wrote: Bruce Willis gives a certain awkward performance as the type of character he plays, and the simple premise of the movie soon gets a little drab. But, the high-anxiety action sequences and adrenaline rush a few good scenes provide makes up for the rest of this movie's flaws.
(es) wrote: It's amazing how interesting can be watching an everyday man driving.Locke is a movie about consequences, about how a decision can change everything, it has some pretty good voice acting, as most of the characters don't appear on screen. Tom Hardy's performance it's pretty good. Locke is an interesting movie but it works and it's hard to imagine how they managed to make watching someone drive so interesting. Worth seeing.
