Brad S (de) wrote: This classic from Douglas Sirk is just the second film of his I have seen of his, after "Immitation of Life". He is widely know for doing melodramas, that also happen to be beautiful, and with big name stars, but based on these two films at least, he also seems to be delivering strong social commentaries underneath the melodrama. With this film, I had a tough time getting into the film for a while, it at first just seemed like a typical melodrama, but the further I got into the film, the more I started to notice other things, such as the underlying anger Sirk seems to present toward the society that is frowning upon the romance of the two leads, Rock Hudson seen as a lowly gardener and Jane Wyman as the older widower with money and standing. As the anger and underlying commentary became more prominent, things got more interesting for me. In my opinion, there is a clear resentment towards the societal crowd that is ostracizing the two lovers, which seems to me like a rare stance for a 50's film. The other thing I should comment on, and one of the most significant things of the picture, is the gorgeous Technicolor cinematography. Along with "The Red Shoes", this may be the most beautiful film shot in Technicolor. I am not sure that this film will appeal to everyone, but I certainly think it is worth watching.

Haravikk K (us) wrote: The only good thing to say about this film is that it's not very long; otherwise it's a staple for just how bad a horror film can be. The villains lack any motivation whatsoever, while the hapless victims are devoid of any redeeming features to add any kind of drama or suspense to the film.Couple this with pacing and plot that leave the film with zero impact, and an over reliance on CGI effects whose quality is more horrifying than the film itself. Even as far as mindless splatter romps go this film should be avoided at all costs as it lacks substance, style and actual humour.Perhaps the most shocking thing about this film is that so many people willingly worked on it.

Justin P (de) wrote: Wow what a pretty mess. There is too much crap in this Twilight clone. The pasty white leads are half angel demon hunters in this turd. Ok if you have angels what then should be your bad guys? Well duh demons, of course. But the problem is, there are more than just demons in this flick. There are witches, warlocks, vampires, warewolves, and monsters. But no zombies, bc one of our goth inspired, tattooed heroins tells the nerd that has always loved our female hero, and Phil Collins daughter, that zombies aren't real. Oh and there is magic too. Too much for one movie. Oh crap I forgot there is a magic portal too, it looks like a small stargate. Or a stable bigger sliders wormhole.
