The movie is full of suffering, abuse and violence, but there is also respect, love and courage, and that's what makes it so good

Well, surely it was turbulent and passionate but that is hardly enough material for a whole film. The interesting thing about these two men is their poetry, to which Total Eclipse alludes on a few brief occasions, but that should have been the keystone of the entire film. I recommend reading Desson Thomson's review for more detailed account of Total Eclipse - this is one of very rare occasions when I agree with him.

Visually this film was both jarring, ugly, and annoying to listen to. I'm probably the only person who preferred Batman & Robin to this because at least it was fun and was self aware of its badness.
