Farah R (gb) wrote: This typical haunted house flick is neither scary nor interesting. Unfortunately The Disappointments Room doesn't combine reality and haunting cohesively resulting in a sob story of a mother losing her child that has absolutely nothing to do with a mad man's ghost who doesn't get a proper backstory as to why he's still in there. Also, there are a lot of plot holes; like what happens to the young man who was hanged and then suddenly disappeared and what do the creepy paintings have to do with anything. And finally the conclusion was very disappointing as it hardly explains if she's finally free or still delusional.

Michael V (nl) wrote: This is actually a pretty damn good flick. It is a good pastiche of the 40s film noir nothing too smart or dumb, some humor, with a psycho arsonist and the obligatory Japanese girl with knives, a high body count, a hardboiled hero, a femme fatale, a decent enough plot, and all in all the time went by very fast indeed. Ving simply kicks ass in this noir thriller that's a tongue and cheek homage to the detective movies. Jane does a good job channeling his inner Humphrey Bogart and obviously having a blast doing it. A good fun supporting cast with French Stewart as a crooner lounge act playing at nursing homes. Doug Hutchison does what he does best the smart unstable psychopath. And Leland Orser whom I think is very underrated. The hottie Elsa Parker who is new to me did a wonderful job as deciving female. The action sequence are some of the best I've seen in a straight to dvd film in some time. If you like old detective stories and stylized violence this is for you. All in all, an uber violent and cool attempt with comic book sensibilities that fans of Sin City, Shoot 'Em Up, and Wanted will lap up.

Sarah S (jp) wrote: I love this movie. I love the craziness the film evokes. You have to watch it till the to end to see how over the top it gets. Directed By jennifer lynch who we all know is the daughter of crazy director David lynch of dune and blue velvet fame. The script is very well done and the acting is great. I have to say Bill Pullman and Julia Ormond of Legends of the fall and First Knight have never been better. Even total recall actor Michael Ironside has a good role for once. This movie is a hoot.

jay n (ag) wrote: Minor but likable little comedy with an able cast. Marilyn, whose part is small acquits herself well and looks like a million bucks.

Jens S (au) wrote: Wants to be quirky and funny, but is mostly rather boring with a few amusing scenes. The druggy P.I.'s case is confusing and ultimately not particularly satisfying. At least a lot of stars move around in the picture, but even their good performances create very few memorable scenes or a coherent plot. Waterston sticks out with her performance, though.
