Chok S (nl) wrote: A FUN, hilarious, gory ride killer film that deserves to become another cult horror classic! The GORES here are over the top bloody and gory using mostly practical effects which can gleefully cheer up all gore-lovers. There are some cheap SCARES along the way but as the film perfectly balanced its gores and humors, so expect lots of laugh from the intentional stupidity of the characters instead of genuine scare. Overall, Hatchet is the film that really poke fun at the 80's killer film cliche' by not taking itself too seriously and the result is an entertaining, cheerful, and gleeful experience you will ever have in watching a film about a killer running and killing each victim violently. And last but not least, remember the name Victor Crowley...because we just got ourselves a new horror villain icon right here! [A-]

There are some very emotional moments in Astro Boy, at least, for me (I teared up). This cartoon is not just mindless entertainment. There's an epic battle between positive and negative energy. Guess which energy prevails?

Deb S (kr) wrote: Val Kilmer plays a FBI rookie and half-breed Sioux Indian who is asked to assist in collaring a murder suspect on an Indian reservation. During the investigation Val finds himself coming to terms with his heritage; rejecting the tactics of his fellow agents, who want to cover up rather than solve the crime. Along the way, he meets a sarcastic but savvy, local lawman, Walter Crow Horse (Graham Greene) and a fiery, pacifistic activist in Maggie Eagle Bear (Sheila Tousey). Good portrait of the conflict that Val Kilmer's character is faced with and Chief Ted Thin Elk, the old wise man has an instant appeal to the viewer. Both Kilmer and Greene give wonderful performances backed up by the incomparable Sam Shepard.

Stuart F (ru) wrote: This film is clearly riding the Star Wars wave; Bubo the robotic owl... As a mythology movie, Clash of the Titans (1981) is decent. Amongst the plethora of '80s adventure epics though, this just doesn't stand out for me. The special effects have a charming aesthetic but the editing is rough. The bombardment of bare skin also felt a tad much for my tastes.

Stephen C (de) wrote: Or When Ideas Ran out ,or when audiences stayed away.Lamentable disaster movie from the Irwin Allen stable which has almost nothing to recommend it.Paul Newman looks ashamed to be in the movie as he gets to deliver some of the most inane dialogue in film history.William Holden looks old .Jackie Bisset looks fed up and Ernest Borgnine and Red Buttons reprise their roles from the vastly supierior Posiedon adventure.Even the volcano is pretty shit compared to vintage Irwin Allen, and of course every stupid disaster movie cliche is flogged to death and you can see who is going to die within the first 5 mins. When a movie has a bad guy with the name Bob Spangler in it you know its scraping the barrell.Unlike The Swarm which has a certain campy charm this has nothing to recommend it and sadly until Roland Emmerich turned up this killed the disaster movie as a genre.Terrible stuff.

Jason M (ag) wrote: One of the greatest films ever made and on many top 100 lists. Certainly in the top 10 of all time comedy films. This film does not have a dull moment. I have watched it many times over decades and continue to respect it more every time I watch it. The separate scenes are tied together flawlessly. The wit and humour are so well written that scenes continue to be repeated verbatim by fans today. As intelligent as this comedy is written, British humour may still come across as fickle and silly to thick-headed North American mass audiences. It may likely take a few viewings to catch all the humorous details embedded within the dialogue.

Patrick D (es) wrote: How many elements of 70s exploitation can you fit in one film? I'm sure this film comes close to the maximum as it includes: Women in prison, shout-outs, bare breasts, shower scenes, lesbian guards, violent revolutionaries, gansters running prostitution rings, incredibly red blood, blaxploitation (Pam Grier), a funky-ass soundtrack, distribution by American International, icon John Ashley's involvment, stabbing, strangling, attemted rape, shot abroad for tax cuts and cheap labor, and not last (but the last I'll mention) and definetly not least SID HAIG!
