Nicole i (mx) wrote: Peace and Love are Only Half the StoryThis was so informative and interesting (well, of course it was to me as I am into anything that has to do with the '60s & '70s. :P) This documentary was great because it had in-depth interviews with a lot of the people that lived at the Black Bear Ranch. What's even cooler is that the actor Peter Coyote grew up there and he talked a lot about how it was.Ah, the beautiful people just enjoying each other. :) That's what it's all about. It was very refreshing. I can totally picture myself living that way, or at least trying it out. I don't (yet) believe this world is so far gone that we can't have a place where people can live happily and free with one another. People, especially the ones my age, may think the '60s where so long ago, but I think the opposite. There's so much to be learned from the past generations and I plan to keep the hippie spirit alive. It's not long ago when you really think about it, humans are humans, no matter if it was 50 or 500 years ago. This movie demonstrates the positive and negative aspects of living at the commune. It has some awesome footage too. I recommend this to anyone who is curious about what living in a commune is like, especially one of the first seemingly successful ones.*Peace...
Brandon W (de) wrote: The writer of Traffic has directed and wrote Syriana that is a great movie but not as a masterpiece as Traffic. The acting from George Clooney, Matt Damon, and Jeffrey Wright is fantastic and they definitely make the stories their own. Stephen Gaghan does the same multiple stories thing like Traffic and he still makes them different which is nice, however, some of the stories are a bit forgettable and people are going to agree that they are confusing at first viewing. The writing is really good, and the film is smart. It's mostly interesting, and it does leave you wondering about what's going to happen next. Syriana is a nice film that shows that Stephen Gaghan can also work as a director.

Both excellent tales in the own right, and both equally original with their conclusions, yet this novel literally providing that killer edge like no other. Whilst boasting many of todays film and tv stars, I simply can't think of a greater detective novel that has since outdone this classic which is now over 30 years old - and that's coming from a big fan of midsomer murders!
Markus M (ca) wrote: I love Mel Brooks' work, hence the film is automatically a fun watch. But as a comedy the film sort of fails in that it's not very funny save from a few key memorable moments. Maybe I haven't seen enough Hitchcock movies and can't pick up on all the references which makes the film's humor lost on me, but even a spoof and parody should manage jokes that make you laugh even without knowing the references. Truly great comedies that stand the test of time aren't built on references alone. Case in point, Spaceballs - my favorite comedy of all time, and a Mel Brooks film where a good chunk of the jokes work simply because they are funny jokes in their own right, and not because they reference other movies.7-/10

Manolo P (gb) wrote: This Hitchcock's classic thriller is a great openness to an impact-growing genre. The techniques used, as well as the resources and cinematographic explorations that at the time were not known continue to produce an effective, intriguing and terrifying effect that even today is impressing. The characters are very well made and the dialogues are fantastic. Here is an argument of masterful suspense whose scenes are absolute works of art. 97/100
