Nico S (fr) wrote: To see the impact the Night of the Living Dead had on the people of the U.S. at the time is very interesting and the efforts that George A Romero and Co. went through to make this movie is inspiring.

Lee G (es) wrote: The PVR caught this a few nights ago. It aired on PBS. I started to watch the grainy, amateur 16mm film. I was all set to turn it off, but for some reason, I stuck with it for a few minutes more and I am so glad I did. Unfortunate is anyone who misses this gem. I was hooked immediately by the warm voice over of what appeared to be a gentle yet strong man, a lover of animals and nature. He planned on building his own home in the Alaskan wilderness and living there for an entire year. In addition, the very documentary I was watching was largely shot by this man with his film camera and tripod. Suddenly the visual style took on an entirely different meaning. Step by step you get to see a log cabin built by hand, and all the preparations needed to survive a brutally cold Alaskan winter. I was riveted from start to finish. This man, Richard Proenneke, ended up living in the log house he built for the next 30 years. His film footage was assembled into this documentary 30 years later and narrated by the filmmaker.

cassidy k (br) wrote: The blondes believable troubles in love are presented well and the story takes you down an obvious, but still twisting road. It is funny and sad at the same time and takes you into a young girl's head as troubles as she is pushed and pulled in every direction.

Janet V (gb) wrote: Holden was too old and knew it, and even the shaggy fringe he adopts to seem younger only makes it more awkward for the viewer. I didn't recognize Kim Novak at first--she appears less self-concious, more natural than in her other movies. Rosalind Russell is good, as always, and Arthur O'Connell elicits genuine sympathy. Not a great movie, but beautifully filmed. I didn't like the ending and the fact that Madge complains about superficiality and then falls for a guy who is all looks and no brains. Although he gets points for being a generous and fun guy to be around that even the kids like. It ultimately is a reflection of the morality and thinking of the time, and the constrictions women were put in until the 1960's began to pry open the door.
