Andrew T (gb) wrote: Heard about the manga series after I saw the movie, but the general feeling of the story was definitely derivative of the medium. I enjoyed the acting, particularly that of the main couple, but was a bit turned off by the transparent shallowness and one dimensional attitudes of some of the support characters. Tough to squeeze a manga series into a movie, and it shows.

As someone who grew up in the 80's I do love seeing this through the rose tinted glasses of 80's nostalgia. Weather it's the music, the dancing, the forbidden love story line or the famous one liner, nobody puts Dirty Dancing in a corner.
