Matthew M (es) wrote: movie was not as bad as I thought it was going to be. The plot was a bit unbelievable but it was ok I guess. I liked the idea and the execution considering the budget.

Bruce Willis is great as the tired beat down detective who is just trying to make it through another day, and Mos Def works well (although is sometimes hard to understand because of the way his character talks) as the criminal that talks about change and cakes a lot, well, that and 4 people, a car, a bus stop and a hurricane, (If you have seen the movie you know what I mean). Although the plot seems fairly far fetched, it still seems to work, that and the fact that much of this movie was shot in Toronto and I knew most of the places (fought against a traffic ticket in the court house used at the end of the movie) just made me enjoy it that much more.Oh, just in case you were wondering, I lost trying to fight the ticket, stupid traffic laws.

Sanduria N (gb) wrote: This should have stayed in the woodworks!!! It should have never been introduced as the nightstalker. It really SUCKED! All the actors in the movies should have turned this movie down. Hate when a movie waste my valuable time. I rather watch infomercials.

Jake P (us) wrote: Slow at first but as the film goes along it gets better and better and when it ended you didn't want it to end.
Jonathan I (nl) wrote: Great characters. Beautiful landscape and costumes. But overwhelmingly dry and anticlimactic. (I saw an impeccable stage version of this story previously, written and directed by women. In my opinion, this version fails in its writing and direction by men of a women's story.) Rather than showing us the internal, emotional journey that happens when these women come together, we only witness an illogical outward change that supposedly magically occurs because of the characters' location. It left me feeling like the film's creators did not really understand what arced their characters or how it happened.

xGary X (au) wrote: A prosperous Yakuza is sent by his boss to settle a gang war between rival factions but when the violence escalates he begins to suspect that the whole situation is a set up designed to steal his turf. Sonatine is the film where Beat Takeshi began to perfect his trademark style of laconic, offbeat characters embroiled within a world of violence that is streaked with his blackest of the black sense of humour. It's probably one of the most laidback gangster films you will ever see, as despite the sporadic bursts of dramatic and extreme violence much of the film is spent with the off duty gangsters while they are bored and bonding on a sleepy beach front. In fact, the lack of glamorisation of the bloodshed and the unsentimental approach to the characters and their relationships make this pretty much the antithesis of the likes of John Woo and his ilk. Kitano instead prefers to show the ugliness of their lives in contrast to the unlikely friendships that are the result leading up to an affecting and unforgettable climax. Embellished by a soundtrack that is understated and sparse yet strangely beautiful - a perfect reflection of the film itself - Sonatine is a true original.

Robert G (de) wrote: I wouldn't go as far as saying this was a good movie, but it kept me entertained the whole way through. The script for this movie was terrible, even comical at times. The best part of the move is that it is so short. It is clear what the movie is trying to do. It is a character study on one hand and on the other it is commenting on how people act when they think no one is watching.

Andrew M (de) wrote: Tarzan is a great Disney film and Disney portrays this film so well. Tarzan has a great plot and is very heartwarming. I would very much suggest this movie.
