From a boy who lost everything in the Partition, to a national hero who achieved the love and support of millions across the country. This is the story of THE FLYING SIKH.Farhan Akhtar has to be appreciated for his immense dedication to this movie. His efforts in adapting to the character was commendable. And his performance was considerably good, the best in his career. .The script had a different and quite entertaining narrative style. Shifting through time periods with grace, and giving us a detailed account of what had transpired.Prasoon Joshi, a job well done. The soundtrack supported the emotions and situations of the movie quite well.At the end of the movie, you will be forced to ask yourself one question. Can you live through even after everything is ripped away from you ? With all the emotional burden, frustration and inner conflicts, even after losing everything, can you fight your way to success ?Milkha Singh can. And he sure did.

(gb) wrote: Powerful, realistic, though-provoking. Amazingly well-done. I've not seen an issues-based movie done so well. The only criticism I think has any merit is this is more realistic sociological case study than it is escapist entertainment. So, if you're expecting "indecent proposal" or "the notebook", you'll be dissapointed. It's no surprise most reviewers didn't like it, its a realistic film heavily entrenched in african-american culture; the other ~87% of our population, for the most part, have limited exposure to that culture, and very limited understanding on any deep level. Very realistic characters who express very real views. Definately not an escapism movie, quite the contrary. Some of Vivica's dialoge is weak, but in general, the emotions are very real and coveyed quite well. I heard a reviewer bash Ryan Chamber's confession in the end, and although a video monologue before deeath is somewhat contrived, his viewpoints are exactly those held by many people in our society, doing exactly what he does.

(kr) wrote: A rather silly film. I didn't like Depardieu at all in this, and I couldn't figure out why he was speaking with a clear French accent when he was supposed to be from Italy and everyone in his surroundings spoke with an Italian accent. This could have been so much better

(ca) wrote: A naive rich girl (Claudette Colbert) runs away from her daddy since he's trying to annul her marriage to a dippy cad. She runs afoul of a smarmy journalist (Clark Gable) who sees her headline-grabbing escapades as his ticket to a hot story. The pair initially despise each other, but this is a screwball comedy and we all know where that goes. It Happened One Night swept the Oscars and it established genre tropes that romcoms follow to this very day, but it's still easy to forget how funny its dialogue can be or how excellent the actors are in their roles. Consideration is also due to director Frank Capra for his slick pace, unpretentious photography, and keen eye for properly framing his stars.
