(br) wrote: I like the occasional 'raspberry' movie. something so bad it inverts into a masochistic enjoyment of the fact it's not enjoyable. This movie is so bad, it's a bad movie, even for a bad raspberry movie, but somehow this makes it almost a true meta-raspberry movie.Sad & slow scripting, awful acting, dreadful direction, piss-poor props, shoddy CGI and crappy camerawork. there's not a single redeeming thing in this movie. So, grab a beer, roll a fresh one and sit down to a movie that will leave you more than a little amused - at why you're still watching.loved it, for all the wrong reasons & still managed to pretty much hated it enough to never want to ever experience it ever again.

Michiel thinks that his father the mayor is a coward for laughing with Nazis and that his uncle is a hero for joining the resistance. Then, when a young British pilot crashes nearby, and Michiel is the only one who knows about him, the boy gets a chance to discover for himself the choices that war can thrust on adults. When he starts helping the soldier, he wears a boyish grin at the thought of adventure, but throughout the film his demeanor darkens as he must make life or death decisions that have the power to impact everyone around him. This movie had so many fantastic plot twists, big and small, it gripped me the entire time. There was great poignance in watching his idealistic view of the world turned upside down. Yet at the end I wasn't depressed, just moved. Young actor Martijn Lakemeier gave an incredible performance - I was amazed that a teenager could hold the center of a movie with such strength. I highly recommend this film.

(es) wrote: I might have loved this more if I didn't love Sherlock Holmes. But, I do. The plot seemed hopelessly contrived and the acting--with the notable exception of Watson--wooden. The sets were good, though, as were the costumes.

(kr) wrote: By far my favourite of the four Rutherford Marple movies. Set on a ship, Marple investiages a series of mysterious murders on and off board the ship. The setting heightens the densitiy and sense of isolation for Miss Marple and make the movie the more enjoying. A very good supporting cast round up this cozy classic whodunnit. One of the best.

(au) wrote: This is literally one of the worst movies I have ever seen in my entire life. I literally got an account on this site so I could give it a review since it had received such positive reviews. This entire thing is so stupid, with so many plot holes and so many completely ridiculous things that happen. It is over the top and insane but still takes itself seriously. I think this is Nic Cage's worst movie. He's playing a crazy person or a tortured person and still somehow he comes across as completely insane but not in a good way. I literally cannot say enough bad about this movie. The only reason I enjoyed this movie at all is because I enjoy bad movies, but this was too bad even for me.
(mx) wrote: It's structurally disjointed and (I suspect) rather hagiographic, but who cares if the result is fun and inspiring? Nowhere near as insightful as The Grandmaster (which was also flawed), but the choreography is poetic in and of itself.
(es) wrote: This movie is enjoyable and has some really funny moments. I don't know why don't like it a lot because to me this isn't a holiday classic but it is still worth watching.
