Some are quite compelling and represent significant, occasionally earth shattering, moments in personal experience. The overall result is an 'art house' film which moves from the mundane to the beautiful and to the disturbing. Set in Australia with some excellent photography; The Turning demonstrates how people are dramatically changed by life events.

A brilliant screenplay, excellent characterization and a superb background score is what works for the film. Naseeruddin Shah is phenomenal in his portrayal of Khalujan, while Arshad Warsi's portrayal of Babban is authentic. A special mention for newcomer Salman Shahid, who is bang on as Mushtaq, but the scene stealer is undoubtedly Vidya Balan. She proves her brilliance yet again after "Parineeta", "Guru" and "Paa" and walks off with the maximum accolades. "Ishqiya" is a film for lovers of cinema with a difference. Watch out for the comical undertones and Rahet Fateh Ali Khan's dil to baccha hai jee.We wish for more such films from Mr. Bharadwaj!!

Maybe the character switches don't always make sense but on New Years not many people's actions do. The story is fun, the actors believable, and although its what would you do questions have been asked many times before, the impact is heavy, and my smile was real.

(jp) wrote: No tension, no horror, no thrills. Despite being only 79 minutes long, it is an absolute bore. It is two people floating around in water and getting eaten by a shark at the end. Zzzzzz.
(gb) wrote: Good story and by the end you'll forget just for a time it's NOT Ray Charles on screen but Jamie Foxx in his best and one of the years best performances.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is really good in it, and do are the little kids which very rare that it's done, while being internationally annoying also. The characters are memorable, and they give off some lines that are really funny, even memorable at times. The villains are decent, and it's a bit different to see what their motivation is. The technique that the cop does with calming the kids down was different and interesting that I'm kind of surprised that teachers haven't done that before. The action is good, and I'm glad that it's a bit muted so that the movie can focus on the school and the chemistry between the cop and one of the teachers. It's a bit unpredictable and it's really funny enough that I was pretty entertained by it.
