Scott P (au) wrote: I somewhat enjoyed this movie in spite of how it barrelled through plot and character development, throwing everything it could in there. So many things are happening that nothing really gets weight. I think I'd actually really like this movie if it had about twenty or thirty minutes more to just let scenes breathe and slow the pace every once in a while. I liked the main characters' friendship, but the entire cast comes and goes so quickly with nothing but stock archetypes that it's just wanting. Still somehow fun. It's a bad movie, but not at all unwatchable.

Jordan P (gb) wrote: Overly crass in unnecessary places, costuming hurt my eyes, good in it's mimicry of the old Batman TV series, some good moments of humor, inventive ideas but I don't see myself watching it again.

Ryan M (ru) wrote: Roberto Rossellini's neo-realist flick comprises 6 vignettes concerning civilian life in Italy during the war; An italian woman looking for her brother + dad talking with an american soldier; a poor kid steals a soldier's shoes; one soldier tries to find a woman he met 6 months ago reflects on how Italy has changed during the invasion. It's all displayed in a very matter-of-fact tone, with the scope of Rossellini's film concerning the effects of war on the people being far larger than Rossellini presents it to be, in this cracking little film. The first 3 stories are great, the 4th and 5th (woman searches for old friend, catholic priests want a jewish + protestant to convert) aren't on the same level, the last story of a surrounded italian army unit is better than the two previous stories. Better than Rossellini's "Rome, Open City" due to its ambition.
