He starts implementing his own brand of classroom discipline: forcing the pupils to treat each other with respect. Inevitably he begins getting involved in the students' personal lives, and must avoid the advances of an amorous student while winning over the class tough. The father, Joe, played by Chazz Palminteri, is moving his garment industry down south to be closer to the factory that produces his company's clothing line. His wife Stella (Andie MacDowell) and teenage daughter Natalie (Jodelle Ferland) are excited about the move but his older daughter Maddie (Rainey Qualley) is a high-school senior and has NO desire to make such a huge life change during her last year of school.Right off the bat I suspected that something was off financially seeing as Joe set up his family in a huge mansion and was throwing money around left and right. Viewers are given a glimpse into his business problems but Joe just keeps on spending. Financial trouble causes Joe to act out and the anger and emotional abuse escalate as money gets tighter and tighter. He swings from buying people extravagant gifts to screaming and throwing tantrums. His oldest daughter is the rebel of the family and really seems to suffer the worst of his emotional fits. The youngest just seems to bury her head in her schoolwork and try to hide. I got frustrated with how Stella just let him walk all over them but tried to remember that her own personal history and the year the movie is set in really require her character act submissively.I could really relate to this movie...I remember quite a bit of yelling in my house growing up. Nowhere near as extreme as in this movie but it still left quite an impression on me. I still hate conflict and tend to be the peacemaker whenever an argument pops up!Mighty Fine is a moving portrayal of what unresolved anger management issues can do to a family. This is a serious topic and I think that the 'R' rating is definitely appropriate. Due to the serious nature of the storyline and some harsh language I would recommend only seeing this with older teens or adults.

Now here is where I get my gripe with the film, the whole movie is based of a true story so wouldn't it be easy to just simply follow the timeline of what events happened? First off, the tryout process lasted longer than one day and they didn't just skate in Colorado Springs at the Broadmoor World Arena, unlike how Disney portrayed it. In the medal round the United States and Soviet Union played in the 5PM game slot, and this looked to be a rout for the Soviet Union because they had played on February 3rd, 1980 and the Soviet's won that game easily 10-3. The medal round game didn't even start correctly; While Al Michaels and Ken Dryden, the commentators for the game, were still talking in pregame the puck had already dropped and play was going. Al Michaels announced the starters for both sides but in the actual game he didn't do that. Every single goal in the movie was historically messed up in one way or another. From the correct time of goals, to the manner in which they were scored; Disney over all tried to make the game more modern to the current time instead of keeping the game the way it was in 1980. Disney tried to make the movie more flashy than it needed to be instead of keeping the historical aspect in the movie. One part of the film I am glad they did not try to recreate was Al Michaels call at the end of the game, "11 seconds, you've got 10 seconds, the countdown going on right now! Morrow, up to Silk. Five seconds left in the game. Do you believe in miracles?! YES!" If they had tried to recreate that moment, it would have been just another mistake in Disney's poor portrayal of this historical moment. Granted I can see how people would say, "It's not that big of a difference, why does this matter?" To people whom are huge sports history fanatics, such as myself, these "minor" flaws made a huge difference to the validity of this film. In closing, although this film was very entertaining when you break down the main point of Miracle, the historical aspect was lost and the film did not reach its full potential.

The story was pretty typical but, it was still fun. The casting was great and enjoyable! I highly recommend it for some good cowboy fun!

Melanie Griffith as Kate plays as a escort of some sort for the corrupt American businessman politician Cosmo played by Tommy Lee Jones as the person whose trying to own Finny's pub for the purpose of exploiting a part of England! Without the pointless variety of musical scores and music including big band, jazz, blues and Polish folk music to be reduced to a 45 minute stint instead, this film might've worked but because it had to be a film, the effectiveness of the crimes itself that occured in the film are almost non-existent. 2 out of 4

This movie teeters on the edge of being completely horrible or straight up incredible. It also (in a very strange way) makes you emotionally attached to a couple of the characters. Throw in some of the trademark Romero slapstick and about 20 minutes of unnecessary footage and you've got yourself a party!

Nevertheless, even with these flaws it is interesting to view. The courtroom scenes are moderately entertaining and Julianne Moore is good as the anger stricken wife of Dafoe while Anne Archer is very effective as the secretary with her own agenda and the sadomasochistic sex scenes....well, if you're into watching this kind of stuff, they may prove to be fairly entertaining as well. I did like the ending. "Karma, everyone gets what they deserve in the end."

Some elements are removed (Renfield is completely gone!) and some completely revised (some of the main characters die unexpectedly) and some interesting plot revelations (A reason for Dracula going to London is fully laid out here), but I appreciated the work. There seems to be some plot holes evident (or footage taken out) but this version of Dracula, starring Britsh actors I know nothing about, held my interest. Check 'er out!

If Michael Fassbender gave the best male performance of 2011 in Shame -- Charlize Theron gave us the finest turn by a female actor in this highly intelligent cinematic work. Paramount really failed the movie in the way it was promoted. I think many expect it to a be comedy. It isn't. This is a tragic story with a few realistic comedic turns. Sad societal commentary.
