The beggining is very suspenseful and grips you in anticipation for the first shot. And after the bullet flies, the movie continues down a gut-wrenching road while it continues to raise more questions. The end is really great as well. A great movie.

I use to have such a crush on Denise Richards, but I'm slowly learning that she's a horrible actress... and it bothers me that she speaks through her teeth. You never see her lips move. Milla Jovovich is actually pretty cute and convincing in this movie and, in my mind, the only thing that makes it worth watching. Don't watch this movie unless it comes on tv and you're in the mood for a romantic comedy with a stupid guy in it. Whomever did casting and put David Krumholtz with the likes of Denise Richards and Milla Jovovich is horrible and should be fired.

The prince has hired mercenaries and stolen imperial treasures and is planning a rebellion. Secret agents are sent to stop him and his talented bodyguards. The actual House of Traps is less impressive, more gimmicky than challenging. Most of the budget seemed to be used up, as the final battle isn't anything too memorable. The venom who played the spearman (and usually the badguy) is in top form here, but there's not much else in this Venom Mob film.

(es) wrote: Pretty strong cautionary tale for its day finds Humphrey Bogart as a loving husband and father who joins a secretive terror organizationvvery similar to the KKK after the promotion he is expecting is given to a clever and hard-working young man named 'Dombrowski'. Convinced that 'foreigners' and 'anarchists' are poised to take over the country, he finds himself duped and trapped by the hatemongers and from there descends into a nightmarish downward spiral that costs him his friends, his family and eventually, his freedom. Quite a different role for Bogie - his character of Frank Taylor is weak-willed, gullible and easily intimidated - but at least he gets wise at the end. The terrors perpetrated by the 'Black Legion' are also quite tame, and are directed at very vague 'non-American' targets. Quite astonishingly, there is no violence depicted against African-Americans, but instead their watered-down wrath is directed at - wait for it - the Irish!

(ag) wrote: I liked all three of the main leads in this and they might just be the future of Hollywood, but this film was just okay at best. I couldn't really tell what it was going for; was it really to be a comedy? If so, what kind? A gross-out comedy? Or a romantic comedy? Was it trying to be a fun party film? I still don't know and I think that was the toughest part about judging this film. There are some funny parts, but the story itself is fairly predictable. Overall, even though Zac Efron, Michael B. Jordon, and Miles Teller are good in this, I have a strong feeling this film will be nothing more than a tiny footnote in all of their careers.

But this is one of my favorite films, and in my opinion, has a lot of re-watch value. Never gets old. Not only is this movie VERY funny, but it has a great build-up of suspense, and that makes this film stand out from your average teen comedy. Sure, there's not a lot of background for the character Buddy, a lot of us would like to know why he is the way he is, and we can imagine something tragic in his past happened that he became so. And I think that's what makes him a great character, the writers did good to keep him mysterious and hide his back story. This allows us to draw our own conclusions and imagine our own back story for the character. As for the others, Jerry Mitchell's character development was well thought out and spot on, as he tries to do everything he can to avoid a fight with Buddy, but in the end, learns to stand his ground, and fight for himself. The other high school students and characters were all pretty good, you've got your nerd friend, a younger sister, a very strange girl thats into Jerry, another girl Jerry is more interested in, and they are all very well put together in the sequence of the story. Quite a bit going on in this movie, it never slows down, and it does great at keeping you into it. This isn't just pure comedy. It's suspense rolled into it, and quite well I might add. Constant humor throughout, but it doesn't allow us to forget that "Oh crap, Jerry still has to fight this guy." In my opinion, this is one of the best flicks of the 80s.
