(fr) wrote: I'm not really well versed in what makes a good documentary but I know what interests me. Bill Watterson's comic strip creation "Calvin and Hobbes" wasn't a part of my childhood really as much a part of my latter teen years and early 20s. and while I may not be a die hard fan compared to others, I do consider myself as one who loves the strip and the characters found throughout its panels. Dear Mr. Watterson tries more to showcase the love the fans of this comic have rather than tell some deep profound history of the comic that no one has ever heard. Most fans of C&H know a lot of the history behind the strip and to be honest none of it is really a mystery so a documentary about nothing but how the strip started would've been no more than white noise to the fans of the strip. This collection. of interviews and discussions does a great job discussing the things that made C&H great, who it influenced and how, the things that people agreed with/disagreed with in regards to Watterson's decisions on how to distribute (or not distribute rather) his creation and a little bit about the comic strip industry in general. the only thing I think I and most other people wish they could've seen out of this film is Bill Watterson himself but his absence from the documentary is nothing that should surprise anyone who knows anything about the beloved, elusive artist. All in all I deeply enjoyed watching Dear Mr. Watterson as a fan of the strip but I can see how anyone without any exposure to the comic may not find it as engrossing. So I'd say if you love C&H or any other comic strip series, check this one out. If , however, you do not have much love for these things then I would say use your own discretion.

(jp) wrote: Awful. Ken Foree is decent but the rest of the actors are so laughably bad I guarantee anybody reading this could deliver a much better performance. If they were paid anything more than a bag of peanuts and expired condoms they should be happy. Half a star because you laugh at just how bad this is. It's actually incredible. Also titles as Apocalypse of the Dead, if you want to see a film that is actually worse than Prometheus, check it out.
(fr) wrote: Great sad disaster movie starring some random white guy, sorry but not racist just fact, I've never seen him in any movie ever. But all jokes aside this is a very sad movie, it's depressing and that's what I expected but not in the way in expected, I thought just by the first 15 minutes that this would be a boring slow cheesy movie but no it surprised me and the story is good, the world turns into waterworld, ha another joke / allusion waterworld could be the sequel to this movie but sadly no it can't, I want it to be but no, too good of technology in this movie. The depressing factor in this movie is phenomenal y good, not in I like depressing things but how this movie shows it I buy into it and get the feels from this movie that this is actually happening in the world but we have something much worse now, I'm not going to tell you but maybe one difference is that in this movie 2 billion people die, well I hope not that 2 billion or more die.

(jp) wrote: This movie is pretty funny. The main characters are funny, the supporting characters are funny, and the plot was pretty nicely put together. It mixes adult humor with child's play very nicely. Sure it pales in comparison to any Pixar or Disney film but it manages to stand on its own.

(us) wrote: Good little crime drama directed by Mervyn LeRoy. I think Van Heflin must have been the John C. Reilly of his day, a big dopey looking guy, almost always in supporting roles, who you can't believe is a movie star, but who's an excellent actor. Only available on VHS.
