Justin W (ca) wrote: While it was certainly better than Nicholas Cage's Rage, it still wasn't all that consistent, nor was it that thrilling or entertaining. What is it with these movies and horrible audio levels? Abigail Breslin has certainly grown up, but you can still see Little Miss Sunshine in there. We riffed it because it was a Redbox movie purposefully picked out because it was lousy.

Anna B (ca) wrote: Better than I was expecting, for the most part (I knew about the troubled release and poor reception, so I assumed going in that Dowse had creative control taken away from him or something); there's something endearing about the whole thing in the first half or so, with a fun set-up and interesting characters, and Dowse's fluid editing rhythms pulling you through the clichs. But it falls apart in the second half, as the clichs get harder to ignore, the hijinks become wackier, and the characters reveal their frustrating lack of depth. It's also disappointing to see so many wasted opportunities to subvert the tropes, especially in the case of the Main Character's Object of Desire. Maybe something like, she had a thing for him in school too, and was also making up her story of success just to get in with him. I mean, it didn't have to be that exactly, but something, anything, to show she has inner life and desires and isn't just Dream Girl that Main Character gets to fuck at the end, woooo, high five bro. Teresa Palmer is absurdly gorgeous, but she has nothing to work with, and it gets more and more depressing as the movie goes on. With all that said I'm probably being generous with this score considering how annoyed I got with the plot towards the end, but, whatever, I still had a lot of fun in the first half.

Tyler S (ru) wrote: I actually liked this film. The premise is simple but unique. A baseball player was robbed of a few hits that took away from 3000, so he comes out of retirement to get the hits.Bernie Mac gives a very underrated performance here.He is cool as the other side of the pillow and brings some charisma to the role. The movie really showcases his talents. There are some silly cliches...i.e. teammates not liking him, forced behaviors etc. That being said I liked it.The always sexy Angela Basset was awesome here as the reporter who chronicles his journey and develops a relationship with him. She's real good here. This movie is worth a watch and while some of the dialogue is obviously forced it's a damn good film.

James H (gb) wrote: Falling in Love is a good romance flick spearheaded by two brilliant performances by Meryl Streep and Robert De Niro. This film luckily doesn't take the straight forward route. I loved the way that it was handled with their current partners the most because it is a sensitive subject and they are both in difficult situations because both of their partners are actually nice people. Especially Robert De Niro because of his two kids. Meryl Streep's character is more fleshed out but I liked De Niro's character too and the long conversations between the two.
