Javier Bardem's villain is one of, if not the, best villain in a Bond film. Acting is great all round. And for any of those who didn't like Casino Royale because the lack of gadgets, Skyfall starts adding in some gear that adds flair, but keeps them grounded in reality.

After discovering a link between the murder of a Russian girl and the unsolved murders of his wife and child, NYPD detective Max Payne goes rogue in order to find those responsible. Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis lead the cast, but neither of them are any good. And the script is garbage; inexplicably mixing in supernatural elements that just don't work. Additionally, there are problems with the tone of film; as the gritty cop drama clashes with the surreal visual aesthetic. Falling victim to the video game curse, Max Payne is a convoluted mess that fails to live up to its source material.

Now, some of that embarrassment is actually funny and other times its painful (all the rapping he does through much of the middle of the film was probably ill advised) but it is ultimately enduring when you step back and look at the performance as a whole. As for the the rest of the film, its really a mess but I respect the ambition on Beatty's part to make something so strange and angry. Also, while most of the film looks dated pretty much all the things it's ranting about are even bigger problems now than they were in the late 90s, so its managed to retain a relevancy that's rare for films of this kind.

The story is about a female Spanish writer who wants change in her life. I couldn't connect emotionally to this story. In a couple of weeks I will have forgotten the plot completely. Next!

It doesn't help that Warren's father bullies him, and that Natalie's parents fail to understand her. Warren's first film and possibly Natalie's greatest performance.

Ed Carruthers is promptly accused of killing his entire crew despite protesting his innocence while proclaiming that an alien monster had been responsible for the deaths of his crew members. Soon enough, crew members aboard the rescue ship begin disappearing one-by-one. For Carruthers, it's deja vu all over again as his rescuers must deal with an alien being that's virtually unstoppable. The special effects show their age along with the acting. But, this is a tidy, little science fiction picture, which inspired Ridley Scott's 1979 classic, Alien.
