Christopher L (es) wrote: 54 - A cheap, lame "based on a true story" film that causes more yawns than pants tents, more unwanted laughs than gasps and more eye rolls than jaw droppings (yes, poop from the jaw). I was extremely disappointed, but Mike Myers and a few of the others were quite good here. *1/2 (out of ****) C-187 - Samuel L. Jackson is a very talented actor, and when he's in a film like the mediocre 187, I say it's no fault of hi that the film itself is less than successful. The man can act. It's the script and the director (and a lot of the time, the other performers). It's a film that could've been good, but isn't up to par and doesn't take any chances. ** (out of ****) CBeautiful Creatures - Here is yet another violent crime "comedy" from Britain that fails miserably. I do so love the presence of Rachel Weisz, and whenever I see her, the film automatically gets a smile from me, but this one's just too mean-spirited and pointless to be simple fun. *1/2 (out of ****) C-Best Laid Plans - This is one of the most useless and boring films I've seen. It's well-acted, but I warn you: Stay away. * (out of ****) DBody Shots - I was completely insulted by Body Shots, a revolting after school special that treats its audience like utter fools. I hated just about everything it had to offer. I did like some of the perormances, but they're not so great that I would ever sit through this again. * (out of ****) D

Tristan M (jp) wrote: I'd defiantly say this is a good movie, but I have a major problem with it: I don't really understand what it is that Michael does. I get he works for a law firm, he does some of their dirty work and stuff, but what is his actually job? It had me confused the whole time, and it may have also been my fault, I don't think the film explained it well enough. It does skip around, and although it has some good characters they all had me confused to a point. Again it's probably me, but it could have been shown better. The acting is really good, and so is the script, but showing the end at the beginning, and then working towards that same ending for the rest of the movie was different. It didn't mess with the plot too much, but didn't help it either. The story is good, has a good pace with interesting subject matter, and holds your attention. Having the important girl whose name I don't remember at the end get set up and caught was good and well done, and one of the high point if the film for sure. Overall a good movie, could have given more info on the characters though but was a good, different enjoyable watch.

Everett J (ca) wrote: I've been clearing off my movie jammed dvrs the last couple weeks and finally got around to watching this. I wish I had just deleted it and not wasted the time. Channing Tatum stars as a rookie cop who is assigned to case in the neighborhood where he grew up, while harboring a secret that could destroy his career and family. The secret is given away at the beginning of the movie(well most of it), and by time the movie wraps up it had all been pretty predictable and very boring. With a cast also featuring Al Pacino, Ray Liotta, Tracey Morgan, and Katie Holmes, you would think this would be pretty good. But, it's a huge letdown. The story is very one dimensional and generic, and the acting is all pretty bad. You can tell these actors just showed up and gave little to no effort. It's easy to see why this was pretty much straight to video. There is so much better out there that this should just be skipped altogether. If you watch this for free like I did, you'll end up wanting your time back.
