Eliabeth N (nl) wrote: Ok I did miss the start of this film, but I have to say unless some horrible distaster in filming happened between the start of the movie and when I tuned in I feel I have the ability to judge. Now you may well wish to argue that for its day this wasn't a half bad monster movie, I'd just argue that King Kong came before this and was the far supirior of the two. Highly comical, although not for the right reasons, more for the fatc that the dinosaurs were just lizards with a bit of costume stuck on them, and for the fact Jill St John's character could possibly be the most pathetic, annyonig and hilarious damzel in distress in cinema history. I felt really let down she didn't die, I mean if you do come on an adventure like this with a poodle and red boots on you desever to die! Not bad entertainment for a lazy day but if you are after a serious monster/dinosaur movie I'd suggest you over look this one.

Morgan R (br) wrote: Michael Wilson wrote this outstanding screenplay based on Jessamyn West's book of the same name. Once again we have good story, with good direction (William Wyler) and actors who know their place. Each of the 'stars' complimented the storyline in a genuine, understated manner befitting the challenges of 'living the faith' not only daily, but tested during the early days of the Civil War in Southern Indiana. An extra treat was the original musical score of Dimitri Tiomkin. The movie was nominated for five Academy Awards, including Best Picture, but didn't win an Oscar.
