Empire Records does not elicit many laughs or emotions, but where it lacks it makes up for with a good soundtrack and a 90s nostalgic vibe. There is something to be said about movies that represent their time, and while this movie does not do it nearly as well as Clerks, it definitely had a similar kind of energy to it. For a nice short, little nostalgia trip, Empire Records is definitely successful.
