Emmanuel T (gb) wrote: Like a bad combo stir-fry; tries out some interesting things, but doesn't take any of them far enough to develop a decent flavour. e.g. Reasonable premise but not developed well, some attempts to play with out of order narrative but not enough. Some work with situational comedy but not enough. You get the idea....

Mark D (us) wrote: Personally i think that this film can be viewed one of two ways. Either incredibly dumb or incredibly intelligent. Penned by The Coen's and Sam Raimi, and directed by Raimi, this film is basically a live action cartoon. And in my opinion an incredibly intelligent, well executed and affectionate homage to the old Chuck Jones Warner cartoons. Some fantastic performances to bring this aesthetic alive and i was forever applauding the (no other way i can describe this) realistic cartoonish expressions and mannerisms of the actors. Very enjoyable.

Rebecca H (au) wrote: Stuffing continuity, Jim (Dean Jones) (lead of the first film) is back and racing Herbie in Europe, even though it was racing in Europe that led him to abandoning Herbie for the second and best Herbie film. For some reason he is no longer married either. Anyway, as before he is a boring lead, although less dislikeable. That can't be said for his new comedy sidekick, the repulsive, misogynistic, mean and stupid Wheelie (Don Knotts) who turned my stomach just to look at him and Jim's irritating new feminist and yet bimbo love interest. The plot, balancing racing, Herbie falling in love and a stolen diamond, is needlessly convoluted. And Herbie is at his most selfish and insane in this outing, which is saying something, to the point of completely ignoring humans and racing in his quest to date a rather ugly car. Pretty dull, with disengaging characters.
