Elgan D (kr) wrote: Astutely paced telling of the true life crimes of the titular location. Both Attenborough and Hurt put in noteworthy performances.
Allan C (ag) wrote: Great cast and direction, but the real star here is the deceptively lighthearted script by David Newman and Robert Benton (the same team who'd earlier Bonnie and Clyde), which in many ways had a highly cynical subtext. Very underrated western.
Paul D (es) wrote: Fairly standard British comedy with politics as its background. It's a fair Ian Carmichael vehicle, certainly suited to his comic talents, but at the same time it's an average outing for him. By the same token Alastair Sim only has a bit-part so there's very little scope for him to have an effect on the film.
Autumn B (fr) wrote: Beastly is an updated version of the story we all know and love about a Beauty who falls in love with a Beast. However, this retelling involves high school, New York City and environmentalism. Overall, a very cute high school movie with good chemistry and nice story. The only part that I found far-fetched as an adult, is two minors left together because one parent is a drug addict and the other is a narcissistic tv personality. Otherwise, a beautiful, dark fable.

William W (fr) wrote: I took my 5 year-old at-the-time son to this at the theatre. It was a charming and decent experience but nothing more--too dependent on CGI rather than a good script. Nice to see Lisa Kudrow and Don Cheadle in a children's film though.
