In this imagining, the gathered cardinals pray to not be chosen, and the chosen one panics and then escapes to have a chance to reflect on his new reality. The worlds of the now anonymous pontiff and the cardinals are vastly different, and that affects the outcome of the film. While it is choppy and unmoored, much like the main character, the film is a welcome chance to wonder "what if?".

An explosive, mind-joggling, fast-paced and exhilarating thrill-ride that you will love to watch again. Another great piece of action movie enjoyment from Writer/Producer, Luc Besson. It's loaded with amazing fights, incredible stunts, lots of bullets, great chases and a wicked story that has a brain and is crafted with pure adrenaline. It's full-throttle action entertainment. Cyril Raffaelli and David Belle are back and kicking more ass than ever. These two guys have great chemistry together, throwing in jokes as well as kicks and punches. It's smart, funny, thrilling and pulse-pounding. An adrenaline-charged great time. Their is much to admire about a movie like this when we have no stunts, wires or CGI but just pure athletic madness and dedication.

The saving grace was viewing this film in the fantastic Raj Mandir cinema in Jaipur. Thankfully, talking through a film is encouraged in India, and clearly the opinion was unanimous! Still, not a bad way to pass the time.

Lawrence B (us) wrote: Whilst not faring nearly as well as Ron Howard's original at the box office, Daniel Petrie's sequel is really no better or worse than the first film which, despite its popularity, was no masterpiece anyway. This follow-up is light-hearted, harmless and entertaining enough but ultimately feels like a wasted effort - considering Hume Cronyn, Jessica Tandy and friends have spent the last three years on an alien planet, the script spends hardly any time detailing their extraterrestrial experiences or even the consequences of their unexpected return to Earth. Instead, Petrie opts for a mere, unimaginative retread of the original, which makes for a passable if unremarkable sequel.
