Trouble Man

It seems that masked men are knocking over the floating crap games of Chalky and Pete. Chalky and Pete hire the cool, loose, elegant Mr. T to fix things. Then, the masked manipulators set up the death of a collector for a rival gang lord. It looks like it's up to T to keep a gang war from breaking out, keep the police off his back, and earn his fee from Chalky and Pete.

William W (ca) wrote: Not a bad flick from director Grace Lee. Her experience in the documentary form shows throughout, especially during particular jibes at the modes of documentary. However this is only going to be humorous to a very small amount of the people who will actually see it. Despite being funny in parts it's failure to let the massive amount of build-up actually pay-off will make this film a profound waste of time for the more discerning movie goer.

Francisco S (jp) wrote: Good movie with excellent performances by the charismatic Anne Hathaway that make this film better than it should be. With charming characters, great musical performances and original story, Ella Enchanted its a creative story that Sci-fi and fantasy lovers will enjoy.

Troy F (jp) wrote: Passable enough as a teen school comedy with your usual teen hijinks, and nice to see Judd Nelson in a lead role, but it doesn't land much of a lasting impact and you'll forget it in a matter of minutes after seeing it. Best part was probably Andrew Dice Clay to be honest, but he's quite a character in anything he acts in.

Emma L (es) wrote: Overly long at almost two hours but I quite enjoyed the slow pace and multiple (increasingly ludicrous) twists. The final turn of the plot is so outlandish I actually had to think about it - not in a sense of wonder but more 'How is that possible?' and 'Why even?' Still, it keeps the viewer guessing right up to the frankly ridiculous masked-killer finale and not every horror can claim that. It looks good too, especially for 1981.

Kevin M W (mx) wrote: The weed of crime bears bitter fruit in this 70's era car chase notable for real stunt work and "f**k authority!" aesthetics. Get yer teenage rebellion groove on.

Jeff L (de) wrote: This movie reminds me of Jean Renoir's "La Bete Humain" (The Human Beast), which is about train workers and the lower class. Buuel's streetcar takes you along with with its two male protagonists on a dashing ride through the night in Mexico City. We get to meet a cross section of society, from rich to poor and from powerful to powerless. There's even an Adam and Eve play with a sexy Eve played by Lilia Prado. That the streetcar is still serviceable but consigned to the scrap heap reflects Buuel's thoughts on authority and that the company can't even keep track of one streetcar reflects his gentle disdain of local governments. I believe he uses a "rogue" streetcar to show us Mexican life because only something with a devillish streak can cut through the many layers of a capitalist society, and that only a rogue character can bring people of many walks of life together. Beautifully shot and wonderfully stimulating, the film nudges viewers about the frailties of humankind. However, it lacks an emotional impact.
