Ola S (es) wrote: Being chef du cuisine of Le Prsident de la Republique is maybe not easy and it wasn't easier for the lady who took this Holy Mission during Mitterand. In a man's world or at least a man's kitchen.Hortense Laborie is told by the president to make simple food, but it sometime becomes parodic in its complexity. You sit there and long for something from the fridge, just as a protestOf course there are intrigues and of course Hoetense loses and retires to an island close to Antarctica. It's rather well acted by Catherine Frot, but it fdoesn't make us hungry.

Carolyn A (fr) wrote: This movie has all the heart and soul that the Ice storm never had. Considering it was written years before there is no doubt this was the original story. It all rang true with me; characters, plot, direction. Taken from a magnificent screenplay, The Playroom is a triumph! You've never seen John Hawkes like this, and probably won't again. Molly Parker is scary good, and Olivia Harris is on the money. All the kids were right on. This is true indie at its best!

Denise O (kr) wrote: this is a very motivational movie to help push us to know more about our history and ourselves.

Robert B (ru) wrote: Despite a good bit of nudity, a clever concept, and the occasional chuckle, the only thing I really got out of this movie was something about the people we date being reflections of who we really are. Sadly, most of the time I watched this I felt bored. And seriously, what is up with the size of that guy's head?

DJ K (ca) wrote: pretty good... parts were a little boring but otherwise learned a lot!

Jocey D (ru) wrote: Tense psychological thriller that keeps you guessing and on the edge of your seat. Morgan Freeman and Ashley Judd are intense and always a pleasure to watch.

Matthew S (de) wrote: Simultaneously erotic, beautiful, perverse, repulsive and cinematic magic. For those familiar with Peter Greenaway, this film features nearly all of his artistic skills both brilliant and unsettling. Sacha Vierny's cinematography is put to great use. The actors give themselves over completely to Greenaway's vision and style. As one would expect, it is a very odd and highly artistic ride. But I find it hard to believe that anyone could deny that this is truly "Film Art" at its most entreatingly.

m m (ag) wrote: Has the feel of a made for TV movie. I don't know enough about the dustbowl years of Guthrie's life to comment on authenticity, but the film does a good job of portraying what Guthrie stood for and the times & the experiences that shaped his songwriting.
