Firstly Jackie has been 'demoted' to general dogsbody as a punishment, but also the criminals have started to harass him and his girlfriend for their own personal vengeance. This means the film starts a bit slower than the first, but as we know, this is a Jackie Chan film so it doesn't take long for things to heat up and reach the level of 'insane'.It all kicks off with a fight in a restaurant which leads to Jackie being in trouble yet again. So, as is tradition for cop films, he quits. Unfortunately for Chan his break from the police force is short lived as he manages to save the lives of everyone in a shopping center moments before it explodes. With a bomber to catch the bosses decide there's only one man who can catch him, that being Chan who is called back to work.Much like the first film, Police Story 2 is filled with moments of great humour, in fact I really enjoy watching May get injured for some reason, especially when she crashes her scooter... There is also plenty of great action (of course). What I love about the action scenes is how there's no groups of people waiting their turn to attack Chan. Instead of a turn based approach Chan just get's attacked from all angles on a regular basis (the fight in the park has to be one of the most incredible things I've seen in recent years). What I love most about this film is the story. The majority of the film is genuine police work with long stake outs and surveillance of the bombers. It's kind of like an episode of The Wire with martial arts and bombs instead of gangland murders and drugs, and that is about as high a compliment as I can give any filmAll in all, pretty damn spectacular
