When one of the four is found shot to death, the other three learn that the latest money they stole actually belonged to a local L.A. crime lord called The King (Dustin Hoffman). Jake proposes that the grifters work for the King and steal money from Morgan Price (Robert Forster), a rival who owns a bank. With a clever screenplay but a little with "too much talk" this is a well made film.
Lehi C (fr) wrote: i love vincent gallo. anything he does is usually good, not counting truth or consequences, n.m. this movie falls in the good category. the slow paced, almost- sitcom/skit feel of it made me feel comfortable. not as aesthetically pleasing as buffalo 66, or narratively fulfilling but still the same vincent gallo performance and style i've come to love. watch it for that, not for the ending, which left me feeling pretty cheesy. i don't think that was the intention.

Another wonderful storytelling that's entertaining, smart, funny and cool with sweetness and some little, acceptable silliness. (A)(Full review coming soon)

Wes S (ru) wrote: In the ways it works, it works good, but otherwise it's a lacking monster film with bland characters and a loose story-line. The composites are sometimes decent and sometimes bad. The practical effects are pretty cool, and used plentiful for closeups. Nothing remarkable.
