Erin B (ru) wrote: Vertical Limit is a poor excuse for an action film, it puts special effects to the limit. The acting was more painful than watching half of the characters fall from thousands of feet off a cliff above. There is no evident plot shown, just a bunch of bad effects and lousy transitions. Not to mention the storyline was extremely confusing. The stunts were almost to unbelievable that it made it comical to watch. So, I gave it half a star, if it even deserved that much. The idea was there to make a quality movie, they just overdid the whole thing which made it extremely uncomfortable and cheesey to watch. Bland and predictable are the two words I would use the most to describe this movie. A 3 year old could predict what would happen next in the so called "Plot". The green screen in the back was very obvious, it seemed like the director just threw some stuff together and called it a movie. Over all this movie was awful, but they had a good idea, they just killed it with the over use of special effects. The bad definitely outweighs the good in this film. I recommend to save your money and two hours of your life, and not watch it.

Lucresia S (mx) wrote: The movie version is a toned-down, infinitely cleaner & more positive take on Ellis' disturbing novel - it still has captured the decadent lifestyle of the characters, but less of the shock value the novel has presented. I say "more positive" because the characters had redeeming qualities here, which the novel lacked, and the ending was kind of a happy ending despite of what happened. The movie, I felt, went on a cowardly path because it basically changed everything in the book. The Blair-Clay approach of the movie is so typical of Hollywood and it's one of the movie's aspects that I really didn't like. Two things that make this movie legit and worth watching though is the music which gives you that wonderful 80's vibe, and Robert Downey Jr.'s moving performance. Not a great one, but if you're an RDJ and 80's fan, then this movie is for you. I gave an extra .5 rating mainly for Downey's presence.
Connor G (de) wrote: Delightfully twisted, grounding this plausible scheme of a mastermind in a supernatural element. The whole concept of an "empire of crime" was brilliant, showing many elements that have made it into portrayals of crime lords, including Moriarty and the Joker. All the characters were great, especially a brilliant hero in Lohmann and the stellar villain in Dr. Mabuse.

I see you here everyday.Guy (Glen Hansard): During the daytime people would want to hear songs that they know, just songs that they recognize. I play these song at night or I wouldn't make any money. People wouldn't listen.Girl (Markta Irglov): I listen. It's one of those unassuming, flicks that you see on telly; but since you have no time to watch it at the present, you figured you'd record it for now and watch it later just in case it turns out to be good (anyone else like that or is it just me?). Anyway, so as it turns out, this film was quite brilliant and has an epically awesome soundtrack. The story is fairly straightforward and the cast, albeit seemingly a bit green in the acting biz, weren't half bad either. I especially loved the conclusion of the story, the two main protagonists never did anything uncharacteristic just to advance the plot and that for me kept the integrity of the film and made it more believable. This would be a perfect example why some indie flicks are much better than the Million-dollar grossing, mainstream popcorn flicks; this film has substance and it has soul.
