Twentynine Palms

David, an independent photographer, and Katia, an unemployed woman, leave Los Angeles, en route to the southern California desert, where they search a natural set to use as a backdrop for a magazine photo shoot. They find a motel in the town of Twentynine Palms and spend their days in their sport-utility vehicle, discovering the Joshua Tree Desert, and losing themselves on nameless roads and trails. Frantically making love all the time and almost everywhere, they regularly fight, then kiss and make up, with little else going on in their empty relationship and quite ordinary daily life--until something horrible and hideous brutally puts an end to their trip.

Lilianetty l (gb) wrote: Is not a boring film. Is a life film, a moral film, a movie that it tell us that life is joy and not a depressing thing. That we keep skipping things because we are afraid of the truth of living it. Those who said the film was boring or a bit boring do not know how to enjoy life and live it's joy with happiness and dignity.Plot: Henry has a problem but still he should learn to live with it. Lucy also has another problem to resolve and it's her ex-boyfriend. Both worlds collide when the thing goes around books and ilustration or even romanticism. If you love 7th Art, this movie is defenetly for you. Stars? Defenetly yes.Acting: I must admit I saw the movie for two things: story-telling and acting. And here's the thing...Mandy Moore proved me wrong. She was inspiring on her role. She nailed it, risk it all with her skills, who have evolved some not quite much but some. She surprised me really. Same Billy as Henry. I think is the first time I watch a film with him in it. Must see more of his work since he did a great job here. Tom as Rudy also did an excellent job as always. The rest of the cast did marvelous (that includes yes...Martin Freeman). Stars? Yes.Music: Not the best songs or elements to use but for an indie film or whatever you call it, it was great. The musicians and singers did a nice job here. Stars? Why not? To end this review, 4 stars of 5. Enjoy and HASTA LA PROXIMA AMIGOS/AS! CHAO! BLESS YOU ALL!!!

Manny C (de) wrote: Talk about a documentary that could have used a little more kick, and certain news bits at the time make most of the revelations in this provocative doc from director Nick Broomfield (Kurt and Courtney), the Brit provocateur who can rile people up just as much as Michael Moore. The footage of the rappers doing what they do best and the unnerving prison interview with Death Row Records founder Suge Knight are hard to shake. Could have used more of that.

Melanie F (ca) wrote: Intriguing enough to keep you guessing but once the plot twists are over, it drags on too long.

Alex S (ag) wrote: Good fun action flick with Stallone and Antonio Banderas.Never actually realised how good Banderas actually is as an actor, who you usually see as the El Mariachi character or voicing Puss in Boots. He plays a brilliant psychotic sniper in this flick.

Nicholas R (fr) wrote: What could have been a great low-tech, on-the-lam spy drama is ruined by too much editing and a plot that just never adds up. Hackman is solid as a semi-retired old spy armed with a Swiss army knife, but Baryshnikov never really seems to get into his role. It has its moments, but overall the film just rambles on like a slow-moving train without a conductor.

Brett B (br) wrote: Late to the party here, and left a little disappointed. So much hype about being his best work, but I felt it was more in line with Life Aquatic or Moonrise Kingdom than Rushmore or Budapest. Still a very good flick that should be highly recommended.
