I am a massive Fallon fan, which might have been the reason why I enjoyed it so much, but the basis of the film was light, comedic and nice to chill to. Really liked how Latifah and Fallon DIDN'T get together in the end like most movies do, but found friendship.

Kirk E (gb) wrote: Stagey, melodramatic and antiquated. "The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp" is a much better film that covers the same period.
Al S (de) wrote: A comic classic. Clint Eastwood is terrific in his first comedy feature with a orangutan who proves to be more than a worthy sidekick. A hilarious and enormously entertaining adventure that`s just a pure blast. A tremendously fun and exciting action-packed comedy. You cant help but love this movie for its humor and heart. It`s nothing but a good time. A true gem that you don't want to miss.
Dodds D (br) wrote: Unexpectedly beautiful and emotionally deep. This film follows a woman (Ellie) who can't give up her past. She was just a girl when she met and fell in love Matthew Smith a boy who turned in the a music god, but right at the peak of his career he disappeared leaving only a wrecked car behind. Ellie can't forget what she once had with Mathew and now spends her life in stasis, jumping from one boy to the new. Drinking partying and generally living a meaningless life. She works as a music reviewer and the magazine she works for give her an ultimatum; write a story about what happened with Matthew Smith (something she has spent years avoiding) or she's fired. This is the kicks off for this story - a late in life coming of age story for the 30/40 something girl who has found herself living a life she never really wanted. Ellie never really had proper closure with Matthew, and in the years since he disappeared she has had time to forget all the bad in their relationship and now only remembers the good. Building him up to the point where no one can compare. A sediment that I can relate to. I have ex's that I've built up remembering them and what we had as more than it was. That amazing night we had dancing and drinking with our friends, but not remembering him hitting on other girls when he didn't think I was looking. Time has a funny way of distorting reality. Yes this story is about figuring out what happened to Matthew on the surface, but that really not what this movies about. It's about Ellie coming to terms with her life, and waking up from the self-imposed sleep she's been in for over ten years. There is a hot boy he is the "main love interest"; Ellie is faced with a choice she can have what she once had with this new young boy or she find what works for her now. She slips back and forth between old patterns making mistakes, and in the end she find a resolutions of sorts. I liked best is that everything isn't tied up into some pretty little bow at the end, she has answers and she has a new direction but there is so much for her to deal with - such is life. I loved the movie, it was the perfect sunday morning think piece.
