This'll be a fairly short review, simply because I can't actually trust what I just read in relation to the story I was being told- well, I say story, but others are more accurate when they've called this an art installation. A film crafted not to tell a story but to communicate emotion. And in that, I'd say Miike has succeeded. There's finer points here, such as the actual meaning behind a lot of what was being shown, such as the temple and the rocket and what they represent. Just read a review down below though, which had a very interesting take on it: the rocket represents a journey outward, the temple representing a journey inward.I think the murder mystery was somewhat clumsy in that it was entirely predictable, but it gave Miike reason to mess with the narrative so it balances out I suppose. The performances were enjoyable and suitably anime-esque. All in all the film was good, but if I ever get the chance to see an official translation, I'll return to this review and add to it. As it stands, the film should be seen for it's beautiful composition.

Brandon W (es) wrote: Big bleep Spider! is an entertaining B movie that doesn't take itself seriously. It has laughs in it, although not as funny as the jokes were, and the acting sounds like they are having fun with this, especially Greg Grunberg. There was some parts that don't make any sense, but with a premise about a giant spider roaming around killing people, it makes that flaw pointless. There are some effective scares in it, and the effects fit in with B movie thrills. I felt like it could've been more fun and make the plot more absurd in an entertaining way, but it is your usual B movie that viewers would enjoy.
