Alexandra H (ru) wrote: I LOVED it! Engrossing, entertaining, and realistic, allowing one to see the Middle East situation from the viewpoint of a Palestinian who in the end sided with peace. I ran a non-profit organization in 2002-09 that funded tolerance workshops for both Israelis and Palestinians. While I'm Jewish with relatives who are Holocaust survivors in Israel, I feel that this film depicts accurately the Palestinian experience and in the final section in which an Israeli girl is introduced, an important Israeli viewpoint as well. Before seeing the film, I saw an interview on Charlie Rose with the real "Miral," on which the film is based. From the most challenging of childhoods, this beautiful woman (physically and spiritually) has made so much of her life. We should all be so courageous!

David A (ag) wrote: Ridiculous to the maximum. "Shaolin Soccer" might not be as good as "Kung Fu Hustle" but it has enough laughs and absurdity to keep us invested until the very end. Very fun to watch. I kind of soccer was as ridiculous as this lol
Sandra A (us) wrote: Watched this film as part of the Enfance Nepal charity fund raiser. "Himalaya" unveiled an unknown landscape, unknown way of life and shared details of the way Nepalese people living on the border between Tibet survive. I certainly would not want that life. The film highlighted how pride, anger and determination can overcome many obstacles. The dramatic shots at 17,000 feet altitude of the villagers trekking through the mountains, over snow fields and with yaks was breath-taking. How they managed some of those angles was very impressive. The plot was fairly simple but the tension between the elders of the village, the dash of romance and the role of the charismatic old chief was impressive. There was sufficient tension at the beginning and middle by things tapered off towards the close but still enjoyable.

Niall MacGinnis stands out but all the actors are good even if Olivier overdoes it a bit with the French Canadian accent. One of Leslie Howard's last films before he himself became a casualty of the war.

Jake M (ca) wrote: Earlier this week I wrote about Hot Fuzz (2007) and how I said it was one of the best cop film I've seen in a while however though Hot Fuzz (2007) was amazing I liked The Heat just a little better. To me The Heat is proof that when you put Paul Feig and Melissa McCarthy together you always get a great film. Sandra Bullock shocked me in this film due to the fact that in recent years she's done mostly dramatic films such as Crash (2005), The Blind Side (2009), and Gravity (2013) however in this film she's actually hilarious. What makes The Heat so funny is the obsessive amount of profanity in the film, and how the characters in this film are another thing that make the film hysterical. The Heat is such an underrated movie I have no idea why it has only a 65% on here because if you ask me it deserves a much better rating than that, If you want a hilarious action comedy than I recommend you watch The Heat.
