Until The End of the World is an odyssey for the modern age. As with Homer's Odyssey, the purpose of the journey is to restore sight -- a spiritual reconciliation between an obsessed father and a deserted son. Dr. Farber, in trying to find a cure for his wife's blindness, has created a device that allows the user to send images directly to the brain, enabling the blind to see.

(ru) wrote: The boxing ring aesthetic is the same as Raging Bull, but the approach here is totally different. A lot of the film happens in real time, so it can feel kinda slow, but the suspense and human interest angle's quite good. It's an interesting film, but not special, much like Robert Ryan's boxer character.

(it) wrote: this was very low-budget, set in the near distant future but in a mexico that is frozen in poverty and violence of the 20th (or 19th) century. its a whacked out sci-fi story, heavy on virtual reality, with a kind of home-made special effects quality to it. but it was really really damn creative and well done. crafted from found objects and smart minds. ignore the bad title and check it out. damn nice surprise.
